That, my friend, is not too shabby. Moreover, I'll be pleased to show you how it will soundly thrash other 'performance' cars costing three times as much.

Keep in mind.......as I posted in another thread, that John Heinricy served as a Chief Engineer on the 4th gen (and 3rd, for that matter)
Are you saying that a non-1le SS ran 12 seconds faster than a vette z51 at Spring Mountain? I knew that a 1le SS Camaro ran faster than a Vette around Willow Springs, I believe it was, so I can believe that the Camaro could be faster. What you posted just seems contrary to what someone would be inclined to believe. Not saying I think you are lying about it, because I know that in some situations the Camaro has been faster, and you would be one to know this, but do you have any internet links to any proof of this, or perhaps some article written about it or something to that effect. I would love to read it.

Well as of a year ago he was working on caddy V cars (i think the whole range, i know the cts-v). He actually drove the CTS-V in Speed world challenge. Heinricy has a pretty damn cool job i must say

No tire squeal here sometimes @ 3x the posted curve speeds!Nice controlled drifting tho, if I push it too far...I love it when people try to keep up with me down On-Ramps..
The feedback let's me know exactly how far I can push it, and with the Goodyear GSC's(9.5" on the ground) it takes A LOT, then gradually drifts...
Thanks John!(and Scott )

would love to be able to take credit for that...I can't other than to say I was very expressive in terms of what type of performance the car must maintain....
..........but you can thank people like John Heinricy, Cheryl Pilcher, Dave Wickman, Ted Robertson, and our friends at SLP Engineering (chief Engineer at SLP was Jeff Yachnin.....who worked on Corvette at Chevrolet....).....and a host of others.

Make no mistake....there were plenty of talented people who brought us the Camaro.....the people above were particularly involved in Ride and Handling on the 4th gen.

The SCCA Runoffs are coming up in less than two weeks. I'm willing to bet that Mr. Heinricy is probably a bit busy right now preparing for his "vacation".

Re: Comparaitive look at 5th gen's dimensions.

Gimme that 3200 lb., $30,000 Z/28, too!
If it comes in at 3500 lb., at $25,000, I'm back to thinking about an SR20DET in a 240SX
Or a turbo Solstice Coupe
If they make it (please please please).

But I'd much RATHER have the aforementioned 3200 or less lb. Camaro
I know, I ain't gettin it

Comparing times between an LS1 4th gen and an SN95 Mustang GT, is that fair? Aren't they more the V6 4th gens speed?

Still blows my mind GM couldn't sell the 4th gen, while Ford apparently had no problems selling the underperforming Mustang
