Not a slam on the Cobalt in any way, but I'm sure this...

Re: Cobalt beats Skyline and Jetta!

I'm sorry but there's no way that a 265hp Cobalt took out a 600+ hp Skyline without there being a SERIOUS difference in driver skill and/or something breaking on the Skyline.

I watched the show too. the guy that drove the 1991 R33 Skyline never even drove a Right hand drive vehicle before. plus it had problems.

Cobalt was still gay even tho it won, I rather have had the Jetta(I"m serious)

Hmmm...I wonder how much stage two will cost. It would be nice if GM gave out the key to the PCM. Bastages.

BTW. Jettas and 97 WS6's are gay.

Re: Cobalt beats Skyline and Jetta!

how can you miss a 2nd gear down**** and hit 4th instead? the only way i can think of it to go from fifth to second but why would you do that on a road course? you would downshift smoothly through the gears...

thinkin about it again now, i know exactly why the skyline lost.

that said, i still really want a cobalt ss. in blue with the performance package or whatever its called.

Re: Cobalt beats Skyline and Jetta!

So, this show teachs us what? That a race prepped fwd sh!tbox can beat a poorly running and poorly driven Skyline around the track? Sounds noteworthy to me.
This show picked some really stupid cars to "represent" the cars country of origin. They could have done ALOT better than a Cobalt. And why the hell did they pick a Jetta? I would have gone with Corvette/M3/Skyline. They all cost roughly the same in their own native countries, so to me it would have been a fair comparison. I guess the Corvette and the M3 are not "tuner" friendly enough though. Pretty damn gay.

Confused? So was the driver. It was his first time sitting in the right seat and shifting with his left hand. His whole life 2nd gear was closer to his body than forth now everything was reversed. He also had to learn while racing around a track with someone timing him. All his instincts were backwards.

I took me a whole five minutes to get use to shifting when i lived in Japan. The hardest part was learning how to judge the distance from the right side of the car to the curb. Also, breaking the habbit of driving on the wrong side of the road.

OK, so the GM team brought Heinricy (possibly one of the best drivers in the world, at least in street-legal cars) to drive a well-prepped but heavily out powered Cobalt. Sounds like a good strategy. What does the tuner team do? Let some guy who has never driven the Skyline be their driver? How exactly did they come to that idea? Surely there was someone on their own tuning team who had driven the car before... I don't get it.

Did you see the dyno results? With a stage 2 upgrade, 7k redline, intake, and exhaust, it made an additional..................23hp!!!!

It really seems like the s/c is damn near maxed out in stock form. As a saturn redline owner, I'm hoping for some neat stuff at sema, but this was kind of disheartening.

Yeah, they need a Turbo Cobalt. I expect one in the future.
