. There are still lots of 2-door cars out there today, built by pretty much everybody!! (except Chrysler
). GM (obviously), Ford, BMW, Mercedes (huh, luxury comes in only 2 doors?
), Porsche......I'm just thinking of some common cars from all these makers that are 2 door models! Just about every "sports car" on the market is a 2-door (with limited exceptions) and I don't see the 2-door market dying any time soon
.

Redzed, wasn't that you who said Chrysler was making their midsize cars based on the modified LX RWD platform, and then doubted me when I said otherwise in that other thread??

"The Chrysler group is redesigning its mid-sized vehicles for the 2007 model year. They will be derived from a platform developed with Mitsubishi Motors Corp.

I wish I were an idiot, so I could be an executive at Chrysler.
That guy is retarded, I can't drive a mile down the road without seeing a two door car.

Re: Chrysler's Trevor Creed says two doors are dead.
I think 2 doors are more alive now than ever. I can't think of one person i know with a 4-door. Wait, my brother got a 4-door Grand Prix becuase they need two car seats. He's the only one i can think of after going through dozens of family members and friends in my mind. This guy is a moron.
EDIT: Maybe this guy confused the SRT-4s success with a sudden 4-door market boom?

It is sad though. We are surrounded by annoying import competition taking away buyers, while morons like this just keep messing things up. I wonder how much influence he had in ruining the new charger, a car I formerly anticipated 2nd only to a new camaro. Sure this clown may lose his job some day like the old crew at GM, but not before the damage is done.
Re: Chrysler's Trevor Creed says two doors are dead.
the reason he says this is against what he should know. originally 2 doors were cheap, like back in the day. then the japaneese came over and said people want a super cheap 4-door. and today we have awesome cars for the price such as the corolla. its one of the top selling cars, has good reliability, can hold 5 people, modestly priced, etc. so now they think the only way to compete is to go 4-door cause thats the market. they haven't realized that the market was stolen from their 2-doors.
if a family sees a 2-door and a 4-door at the same price they will go for the 4-door. but if the 2-door was cheaper they would go for that. bottom line, we have no inexpensive 2-door cars anymore. now manufacturers automatically assume that 2-door = coupe= sports car= high prices.
if GM brought a decently looking/reliable etc. 2-door it would sell like hotcakes to people wanting a new car, but don't need all the space a family would. (like 20-26 year olds on a budget).
if it is a quick car, all the better.

Or what about Camaro's own former vehicle line executive just recently stating that Cobalt and Monte Carlo were being competitive with the Mustang?
At least in Trevor Creed's instance, he is speaking an easily accepted truth (coupes don't sell anywhere near the volume sedans do). The Ford and former Camaro execs really, really bent the facts in their statements.
Re: Chrysler's Trevor Creed says two doors are dead.
red, say what you will about a Cavalier coupe being "almost pretty" compared to the sedan...they're both ugly IMO. The fact of the matter is that younger people, while not trending towards coupes as much as they used to, still want something sporty. Buyers tend to agree that 2 doors are sportier than 4 doors, whether that is true or not. That's why Cavalier sold so many coupes...younger buyers just wanted them. I sold many customers '02 GP coupes when the word came out the '03s would not offer a coupe. Many an owner were rather angry.
With that being said, I am one of them. Maybe its stupid, but I won't be caught dead in a 4 door...ever. Declining overall market, maybe. Declining interest? Hell no.

I agree that the Sebring and Stratus coupes can go (although I like the Stratus') but it is a copout. I thought the crossfire was ugly in magazines but on the road they're pretty badass I think. They look like a kick-*** domestic 350z or something, and I'm sure that sporty coupes will not fade away anytime soon.
Re: Chrysler's Trevor Creed says two doors are dead.
So I guess Chrysler just spent a lot of money on a LX concept coupe that will not show now at NAIAS. It has been said that when it was said earlier this year, that Chrysler was testing the reaction.
