Chrysler at Peble Beach 8/15

There are rumored to be some cars showing up this weekend at Peble Beach. The LWB LX(rumored Imperial), possibly 300C SRT8, and a few others.

I believe the 300C SRT8 will be available later this year, not sure on the Magnum though. Pricing for the SRT8 300C should be in the 35-45k range.

Re: Chrysler at Peble Beach 8/15

Im asking about the Magnum SRT-8 Because my wife has now outgrown the Neon SRT-4. I thought it was cool when my wife took an intrest in my silly hobby of fast cars. I even encouragd it by getting her to buy the neon. Now she wants a V8 with RWD thast fast...........Silly me

Her second obssesion is Animals. We moved into a bigger house and its now filled with animals. Our 2 cats and 2 pugs. She recently rescuded a 6 month old Albino (sp?) Deff Boxer from being put down. Now we have 3 dogs. One that will reach 80 lbs. and require transporting to the near buy park and Vett. She needs a bigger car. She wont drive a truck ans still wants something fast.

The above rant goes to show how great of an Idea the Magnum really is. Its a car that rides almost like a luxury car. drives almost like a sports car and can do 90% of what most smaller SUVs can do.

This is why the Magnum is such a sucsess. It does 90% of what everything else does. Its the Compromise thats not that compromising. I just would like a 6spd and some more *****. So now when a Husband needs a family car for the wife he can get her a AWD magnum and still have fun when he gets stuck driving.

I'm not sure, but I don't think the SRT AWD cars will get the manual. I could be wrong, but I do know that atleast the RWD SRT cars will have a 6sp manual. The SRT version of the Magnum should be out sometime in next year that the Magnum became available this year, April/May.

The 300C SRT8 is suppose to be shown friday. One of the car mags, I think C/D, is suppose to run an artical on their webpage on the SRT8.

Re: Chrysler at Peble Beach 8/15

Just a side note since we are talking about Magnums.

Pebble Beach activities have gotten started here in Monterey with pretty much every hotel booked, and classic and performance cars pretty much taken over the area (there was a group of 6 Lambo owners that went for a cruise around town yesterday). There is a group of at least 50 cars (last count) that were set up by the fountain in preparation for an auction that takes place tomorrow.

As they were off loading the cars over by the former Double Tree, a black Magnum RT (complete with window tint, chrome wheels & tailpipes) from Michagan was parked in front while the driver and companion were checking in. No fewer than 4 people were gathering around that car checking it out!

20 feet away there were 2 hot rods being unloaded, there was an aftermarket tuned new Mercedes convertible, a Ferrari Dino, a 55 T-bird, and some type of Lambogini all within 50 feet. Yet, the fact that some people were still drawn away to look at this car that you can drive 5 miles down the road & buy yourself was telling.

I was downtown (anyone who's been to Monterey can tell you, downtown isn't exact that big ) for probally about an hour, and I saw no fewer than 5 different Magnums driving around (though none of the others I saw were sinister black RTs). It's probally Chrysler related since they are supposed to have something going on Saturday, but you couldn't help but notice Dodge's presence here.

Oddly, there are usually 3 Chrysler 300s in town. Yesterday I saw none.

Guess I'm postponing my road trip to Vegas this weekend.
Anyone want to host any pictures I take?

I want a Charger SRT8 or a Magnum SRT8. Unfortunately, we can not get a Hemi equipped LX in Hawaii without special ordering and paying a premium close to 4K over MSRP.

Re: Chrysler at Peble Beach 8/15

So, will there be a Magnum SRT-8 or will the Dodge SRT-8 be Charger?challenger only? It would be nice to see a 300C Coupe as well.

Supposedly over on the SRTforums A shop says they will have "beaten the code" for the DCX Hemi powered cars and is going to offere a twin screw supercharger kit fot the Magnum/300 cars.

It seems like FORD guys will have to deal with this new Computer tuning issue as well when the '05 Stang comes out. I was also wondering if the new PCM for the LS2 will have to be relearned. People forget that the firts 2-3 years of LS1 tuning was poor and limited as well. I remember having to trailer my 98 vette half way across the country to get a crappy tune.

Re: Chrysler at Peble Beach 8/15

Autoweek is saying 0-60 will be rated at 5 secs. If this is anything like what the 0-60 rating was on the regular 300C, then Vette owners should watch out.

I think my Camaro needs some more mods.
