Chevy rated most dependable

But here in the valley of gold where 99% of vehicles are imports, American cars are still perceived as crap by every non enthusiast (90% of buyers) I meet.

It should be noted that J.D. Power is paid when an automotive manufacturer uses it's results in advertising.

So, every time you see a Buick or Hyundai television spot that quotes a J.D. Power's survey, J.D. Power makes money.

Does that sound unbiased to anyone?

Personally, I was never convinced that the crude Buick Century was an example of industry leading "initial quality," whatever that's supposed to mean. At some point, I began to disregard J.D. Power surveys in the same way I'd ignore a product endorsement by a Muppet.

I'm not a huge believe in JD Power either, but if people are going to quote them and rely on them as the gospel when the import nameplates are at the top, you can't suddenly discredit them just because GM is now doing well.

1. I've never touted JD Power surveys. I'd pay more credence to Consumer Report survey results.

2. GM is not doing well right now. GM is losing money in a time of economic prosperity.

I'm not a fan of you, but nice qoute in your sig. Vanishing Point was a great movie.

All reviews of cars are biased, so really arguing any source over another is not exactly a workable approach. What one person considers a defect, another looks at it like personality of the car.

Funny how the import lovers all held up the JD Power reports as gospel in the 80s and 90s (to help justify their purchase), but as soon as the numbers start going the other way, the reports are "unfair" and "biased."

Hypocrites.

Re: Chevy rated most dependable

And if Honda, or Toyota, or BMW, or whoever, is rated "most dependable" in JD Power, those companies will also tout their ratings. JD Power will get paid, probably the same price, regardless. So in the end, they get paid by whomever...so why would they be any more biased to one versus another?

Answer that one, redzed. If I'm going to be paid regardless of who I rank #1, do I have a bias? Do you personally have a bias?

Oh crap, I just realized I asked you a direct question. My apologies for making you think of a way to divert around my question, and answer me with more BS. I know you hate it when I make you think...I really do.

That's a pretty stupid comparison my friend. The soviet Union does good in competition internationally because they deserve to.

If you show great talent in something, the soviet government will pay you to pursue that talent.
They even do this with paintball too! Russia has their own paintball team which is sponsored by the russian government.

They take pride in their country and their people's talents. And they really enjoy showing the world that they can kick your butt at it too.

i'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that GM's advert budget is slightly higher than most traditional imports

Did you just put BMW and reliable in the same sentence?

Jason E, you should make an ad for GM. It should go like this:
