Chevy ranks below average on JD Power APEAL
Re: Chevy ranks below average on JD Power APEAL
APEAL award? hehehehehehehe....
The Pontiac Aztek won its class in 2002. I don't know WHAT this thing is supposed to gague...but to me, the reason why the Aztek won in 2002 is because all its owners were vehemently defending their purchase to anyone who would listen!!!!

People, realize that APEAL is an acronym for this:

It is not quite the same as the word "appeal" that many of you seem to be inferring. The point of the study is to survey owners (you know, people who have spent more than 5 minutes on a test drive or 20 minutes reading some b.s. magazine article) about their cars now that they own them. Are they still happy with the car? What do they like and not like? And so on... I mean, obviously the acronym "APEAL" was intended to make you think "appeal", as it is a survey of the overall appeal of the car (how well was the car executed) to those who now live with it every day.
JasonE, the Aztek has always scored well among its owners. Why? Because once you get beyond the styling, you have a remarkably utilitarian vehicle with a unique exterior (obviously) and interior (sort of like the H2's look, only the Aztek pulls it off much better). People who buy Azteks generally love them. I think the same is true of GTO owners. Obviously, since they bought the car, they were able to get past the "bland" styling. As such, they now get to appreciate probably the sweetest overall package available at that price range...

Re: Chevy ranks below average on JD Power APEAL
I'll go with the GTO argument, but the Aztek one? Hey, I like the inside of it too...I've driven 4-5 now and every time I drive one, I admit while its a little underpowered for my tastes, the inside is a pleasant place to be.
One step outside though...
I was making a joke earlier with the Aztek reference. I know what the APEAL stands for. I would be thrilled to buy a 2004 GTO with NONE of the '05 modifications. I don't like the scoops at all. I would not replace my Camaro with one, but as a driver its a monumental step up from the GP for $5,000 more, MSRP wise.
