Very interesting. I'd be curious to see if the source is revealed. The design direction looks to be waaay more retro than many here will be comfortble with - indeed a spiritual rehash much like the "new" Mustang. Nice looking, but way to similar to the original to be a move forward - IMO.
The models don't look like they are spawned from the SS concept at all, but more akin to the drawings done by Motor Trend from a couple of years ago (it doesn't seem like it was that long ago). The vert resembles a drawing from the hardcopy version of that article as opposed to the online version noted above which lacks the vert drawing that is in the hardcopy version.
You can see the MT artwork here or here.
Based on that I'm not too sure how authentic they are, at least as far as the "real" Camaro' design is progressing - I could be wrong and this is just my opinion, but I doubt the artwork is from Chevrolet.

That's a idea from a member there, NOT the real thing.
He took the 5th gen front & put it on a 1st gen. As someone correctly noted, the theme is the same as the drawing in Motor Trend a couple of years ago.
The general "idea" for the car, as I understand it, is correct (a 2 door coupe with a strong connection to the 1st gen), but mirrors, chrome bumpers, and most certainly the rear end (by a long shot) and is off the mark, as are the negative offset rims.
I just wanted to get this out quickly before someone (as always, ALWAYS happens), begins crying and whining about how GM's screwed up because they "went Retro" or start talking as if this IS the actual new Camaro.
Outside of the grill and the fact that it's a relatively small sports coupe, that's not it.
So don't even start yer whining.
Pretty please.

One man's "retro" is another man's "new". Retro, non-retro, who cares. It's mostly opinions anyway. Besides most people who hate "retro" don't think the Mustang looks bad (going by a lot of comments here). People get their panties in a knot too much.
Since the front of the 5th Gen camaro has the square headlights, could the headlights look on the inside be circular like?
Is it just me or have I seen the front end on that Camaro somewhere else on a concept car Chevy done as in the Chrome bar and headlights?

You have seen it before. It's relation to the 5th gen is purely intentional.

The nomad, oh yea now I remenber I have been a lurker around here long before I signed up here but I like how the camaro is shaping up to look. With a side profile of a 4th and 1st gen camaro morphed together It's going to look awesome.

I don't think RP said anything about a future car. He may have said "If" there is a 5th gen then it wouldn't be retro. But he did NOT say "the 5th gen Camaro will be...".

Duh!
