Change back from your one million dollar bill....
Change back from your one million dollar bill....
Re: Change back from your one million dollar bill....
FWIW, If I remember right... the last time a 69 ZL-1 Corvette changed hands it was for $3,000,000... and that was quite a long time ago.
Of course, I think there were only 2 of those built.

To me, no freaking way. Any mile he puts on that car is basically just hurting its value, I'd guess.
But then again, I'm a thousandaire, not a billionaire...

I'd be quite happy with a "regular" '69 Camaro with some modern touches.
Re: Change back from your one million dollar bill....
775,000 bucks and reserve not met... WOW.
Let's see..
Ferrari Modena
C6 Z06
Porsche 911 TT
Mercedes S class AMG
LX470
Silverado 2500HD Diesel
There's six cars with still enough money to probably buy a nice sized house.
Oooooor... you can have a rare Camaro with numbers that even match on the hood insulation (they put numbers on that??).
Rich people are crazy.

Just because most around here (me not included, win the lottery and I'd buy it...better than stocks) don't get it, there are wealthy people who do.
This car is one of the last examples of the wretched excess of horsepower in the golden days of musclecar history.....it will always command the highest dollar.
Re: Change back from your one million dollar bill....
For $775,000, you could have:
A Ford GT,
an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish S,
a C6 Z06,
an 07 Cobra,
a CTS-V,
a 300C SRT-8,
a Charger SRT-8,
a Magnum SRT-8,
the Foose Camaro,
AND enough left over to buy an 05 GTO
Honestly, would you seriously rather have the ZL1 over THIS garage?
edit: I just realized, this is just over 4700 horsepower!

If so, I can think of plenty of ways I'd rather invest that much money than in a car.
Re: Change back from your one million dollar bill....
I don't know. For some reason cars like this just don't have much of an affect on me. Part of it - a large part I'm sure - is the fact that I have about 1/775,000 of the first bid price in savings. More than that though, when there's no rust on these things, no dirt, nothing to fix, it kind of loses its soul. My heart beats more when I see a '69 up for sale on eBay that runs but is really rough around the edges. I can definitely imagine one of those in my garage (first order of business - buying a house and a garage).

FWIW, Pete Estes' one-off 1968 Z/28 convertible didn't meet the reserve at auction last year when the price reached well over $1 million. Rumor has it the reserve was close to $2 million.

P.S. - I just realized that HeartbeatCity.net is the seller. So the car is legit as is the asking price... although there is speculation that its being listed for advertising purposes. Supposedly they also have what is believed to be the most optioned 67 Z/28 in their possession and will be giving it a full restoration soon. I'll bet that one sells for a bunch as well.
