Looks easy enough to replicate. I saw the B5 blue version in a brochure months ago, was wondering what was going on with it. Enough with the TTII knock-offs already tho...but hey, makes the real deal look that much better!

 

wait till all the 5th gens start sporting them.

 

I don't mind the real thing, I have a set on my '69, and would consider putting them on the new Camaro....I'm just tired of seeing watered down versions of them on every new Mustang and now the Dodge.

Though the more I look at them, the more I see Cragar S/S.

 

This can be yours for $45,000 (i'm guessing).

 

I agree. Granted it's not the best angle, but those look much more like upsized cragar S/S than TTII.

This car will be nowhere near $45k. Its nothing more than a VERY mild package on an R/T...I'd say low to mid 30s.

 

I have seen $37k on stickers on R/Ts around here. That's even without MyGig. And, this is me going out to the dealerships and looking at the physical window sticker, not browsing on the internet. Add wheels, decals, a working hoodscoop and whatever is underneath it, and the dreaded "Market Adjustment," and you're well over $40k.

 

Nice, uh, "math"...

An R/T 6 speed bases at $31k. With leather, sunroof, HID lights, chrome 20s etc...you're at $35-36k, tops. CAN you make one more expensive? Absolutely. Do you NEED to? Of course not.

Consider that the 20" wheels are around $1,200, and those are standard with the Classic...how much do you guys think this thing is REALLY gonna cost? $1,500 over a normal R/T with leather, a roof and 20s keeps you in the $36-37k range.

Again, like the "math." Bringing up something like MyGig is irrelevant...you don't need MyGig to get the package, and most Challengers don't have it anyway!

 

You know, if you are going to post prices, then you need to also throw in the word loaded if you are going to post the prices of fully equpted cars.

The MSRP on a base Challenger R/T is within $20 of the MSRP on the upcoming Camaro SS. It's deceptive to point out the price of a highly optioned special edition version of the R/T and use that as a basis of a car being overpriced when compared to it's competition and what's included in that price, it obviously is not.

Also, anyone can throw around the term "Market Adjustment" on anything. Unless you are actually going to say what that market adjustment is and recognize it doesn't apply everywhere, then it's just as silly to bring it up as it is silly to think a new Camaro SS isn't going to also have a "Market Adjustment" for some time in most places.

I agree with Jason on this.... you need to do that "math" a bit better.

 

I just ordered a 2009 R/T yesterday. J package (leather), 6-speed, standard 18" wheels (passed on the 20's), fender stripes, uconnect GPS (what you guys call my gig I believe), electronics convenience package. MSRP $36,325 including destination. I got it for a few hundred over invoice. Had two dealers in that price range with little effort on my part. If you're paying mark-up or MSRP you're paying too much.

I can see the classic package adding maybe $1500-2000, but that's about it. It's appearance only AFAIK.

Like my mama said "ya better shop around"!

 

I was at a dealer a couple of months back, and the loaded R/T's were $32K on sale, the base V8's were in the $27-29K range. The loaded ones had 20's and the track pack too. They put the prices on the windshields and there were 8 of them.

I would assume that the Classic won't add much in the real world...it adds no real content. I'd have to really want B5 blue to justify it. Otherwise, there are other wheels I'd rather have than paying up for any of the OEM 20's.

My interest will pique when they offer Plum Crazy.

 

I'm not buying a Challenger. I was simply relaying information to you of what I have seen around town. I'm not trying to be argumentative. I only say it because you guys assume this special edition will be cheap. How much was the wheel and stripe package on the 35th SS Camaros? How much was the CE package on Trans Ams? How much are the C/S Mustangs and other variant special edition Mustangs? Special editions can drive up the price of a car very quickly.

Here is a link to the dealer I went to - only one R/T they have MSRPs for less than $34k, and the rest are above $37k. I'm not crazy.

I can only say that what I have seen locally matches with what the pool boy said. Challengers are very very expensive for what they are.
