I don't think any old retired names from the past should be re-used, but if they are, why are the names of some slow RWD cars given preference over other slow RWD cars?

Well, it's one of the only names that they haven't dragged up from the past and stuck on a sub-par vehicle, so why not?

Why would it need to be sub-par? If it's good looking, affordable, handles well, and has good power....what is sub-par about that?

Does the fact that it would be FWD....alone....make it sub-par, and ineligible from using any name from the past?

If it looked like this and was RWD, i would be happy.
If it comes back FWD, just please dont call it a Chevelle, especially considering that i think more makes are going back to RWD.

Ughh, i sure hope its not named Chevelle. give it a new name and good performance and it'll be fine. Chevelle was the name of a RWD muscle car not the name of a FWD sport compact car.

Actually Chevelle was the name of a low cost Chevy intermediate family car....most of them with 4-doors and milktoast powertrains. A handful of those Chevelles were RWD musclecars.

Yes,but it is known for and has a reputation for being a powerful RWD muscle car. That is what counts, and that is what people know it as.

So does that mean the name can never be considered for any car, unless it's a carbon copy of a '70 LS-6 Chevelle?

The Chevelle and Nova also deserve to be kept what they are/were or are even percieved as. Fact is most of them today are musclecars even if they weren't the particular models with the "muscle" stock when they were new. I could just imagine a really built street driven Nova or Chevelle sitting at a light rumbling away and having a new FWD V6 car with the same name pull up and get laughed at or show up at a cruise night or something. (Doh) That would be just pathetic, and not to mention the tons of critisizm. People critisize the 370HP (??) RWD GTO constantly for not being completely true to the originals!! Same thing with the Impala and so on.

They can make up some new names.

So using the same logic, you wouldn't be opposed to a FWD 5th gen Camaro????

Ahh, I knew someone would throw that up. Of course I'd be opposed.

But then agan.....if most Camaros were 4 door grocery getters, that were discontinued 30 years ago.........
