If ya want to get real picky, then yes you are "right" at least as far as the input I've heard. According to the info, the side mirrors are integrated a la 4th gen using fender sweeps/fairings and the quarter panel definition line extends into the door - by all accounts - and the 3/4 window is not like the 1st gen in coming to a point, but more rounded although the "specifics" are hazy - real hazy. That's about all that I can recall on top of what I already said in the last post. A hood scoop similar to the 4th gen car is also apparently part of the package as well.

DISCLAIMER: I have no real idea what the actual car looks like, I am, however, going on input from various sources both here and at C&G. The final car may yet be different again. I believe there are/were two different front end treatments being worked on as well. So, roll the dice...

This is taken directly from the C&G board as posted by Evok

evok: Will this car be like a cross between the first and third gens? I mean, will it be a first gen car, but beefed up and harder edged?

Nos sorry for the delay but what I hear it is more like the gen 1 vehicle.

We are still years away from production and remember GM still has not said anything official about the program. So i would not expect anything from GM on renderings anytime soon made available to the public. But, i can assure you that renderings are out there.

I can also confirm what Chazman said in another Camaro thread, the vehicle is not retro just inspired from the past.
So, it goes like this, the car is not retro per se, but "inspired" by the past.

GOOD LORD what a heap of rubber on the back wheels!

I am an "old guy" and I remember the glory days, so I am VERY partial to these new designs. I think the first image (blue one) is T-totally awesome (long nose and all!). I said over 2 years ago, that I had BETTER know it is a Camaro withing 2 seconds of seeing one accross a supermarket parking lot - THAT is my criteria.

It doesn't have to be a duplicate of a 1st or 2nd gen, but it DOES have to have CAMARO DNA in my humble opinion.

Me likey.

Ugh again all this retro bashing, its as old as a century is long. What possibly could a new camaro look like for the diehards against this "retro" feel? Besides nothing is official so yet so its all a mute point.

For me just less blantant copying of details.

-Both front ends are clearly plagerized copies of a '67 and '69 (maybe '68 and '69).
-The hood is (IMO) too flat, too long, and the corners too sharp.
-The greenhouse, while not a blatant copy of the 1st gen, does look too 1st gen-ish too me with the previous details.

This doesn't look like as much of a revolution/evolution as I'm hoping for.

That's a tough question to answer, especially since none of us here are stylists by trade. It's really up to the professional designers to advance a design theme and make it look modern while still holding some link to the past.

IMO the 3rd to 4th gen Camaros are a perfect example of that. The 4th gen Camaros looked fresh and modern, yet you could still recognize them as Camaros even though they hardly shared a single line with the 3rd gen. But if you were to ask us back in 1990 how to make the 4th gen look, I doubt any of us would have the foresight or skill to guess how the real 4th gen would look. We need GM to do the same thing going from the 4th to 5th gen, but personally I don't have the skill to guess how that would turn out.

WOW

I will put one of those in my driveway on day one if I can have it in Z/28 form with a 6 speed and blue metallic paint. (and an iron block ofcourse, so I might have some day 1 motor swapping to do, haha)

Ive like the other designs so far, but each one seems to get better, and this is incredible. 1st gen style/shape with 3rd gen stance/shape and 4th gen sleekness, everything I want.

You should teach idiots, like me, how to use photoshop or whatever you used like that. Those look amazing. As for the design, I don't like retro very much. The Camaro should move on and do battle with another car other than the Mustang. Just because Ford is going retro with the Mustang and the GT40, doesn't mean Chevy needs to go retro with the Camaro and bring back the Nova

This retro "hatred" thing cracks me up. Its the same way with the mustang guys and the 05. Its not copying when these ques appeared on other cars of the same kind! To me this sketch is almost too "futuristic". Put it in the context as if you never seen the first gen and look at it with fresh eyes. It's a fine looking sketch but I dont think the actual car will be too close. Too many tings that migh make it to a concept but not a production ca.

Those two cars look amazing! I'm buying one for sure if the car looks like that! Especially if they have those giant tires on them.

Forget my kids, they can pay their own way through college just like I did. I'm getting that car.
