TOP TEN 5th GEN CAMARO KILLING VIEWS

1) I don't care what they build it on....just as long as they build it.
Don't know much about platforms so ill say, as long as it looks, performs and cost like a Camaro, I don't care.

4) Camaro should have large overhangs...after all it's a muscle car.

5) I hope Camaro is not a girly car like Mustang.
I think that this car should be "male" marketed, because there are lots of females who wan't a car looks like it kicks *** and takes names, even if it doesen't. And I for one would like some comforts, other than a fog light switch.

Um. Yeah Camaro's are pony cars, not muscle cars as far as I was told.

It's fun to have a car as long as a suburban that fits 2.5 people. Not. The car can still look great and sporty without the overhangs. But it can't look modern with them IMO.

I don't know who thinks 6 & 7. I sure don't.

As far as looks go I like the angular third, but I also like the long low slung fourth. So I'm all for that.

Buy a GTO. I, for one, would like a Camaro.
That was a typo, it should be I don't want a current GTO as a Camaro now.

Yes...he was serious.
Yea, I remember that!

The Hummer H2 was sold primarily by female buyers in some markets. Why? I guess, women don't like wimpy looking cars any more than men do. Perhaps an "over-the-top" Camaro could really rack up female buyers.

TOP TEN 5th GEN CAMARO KILLING VIEWS
Makes me cringe too. But I'll have some fun with these reasons because they occasionally pop back up.

1) I don't care what they build it on....just as long as they build it.
You know, that Aveo does look pretty nice.......

2) Camaro should not be a car that females want to buy.
Now THIS is an idea that will make Camaro sell, huh?

Females buy over 50% of the new cars sold in the US, and influence countless more (something like 70% with married couples who make up the whopping majority of new car purchases).

3) Camaro should be a large car... after all it's a muscle car.
Then buy a new supercharged Impala. No, wait a used Lincoln Mark VIII, no... the Silverado SS is bigger. Better still, a H2!

[quote]4) Camaro should have large overhangs...after all it's a muscle car.[/b]

:blah: Uh... right.

5) I hope Camaro is not a girly car like Mustang.
Anyone calling the Mustang a girly car should be tarred & feathered. About 55% of all Mustangs are sold to men. Go to the GT alone, and it approaches 65%.Camaros tended to run a mere 10% more, at best. Men buy Mustangs because they want a new RWD sporty car that's easy to insure, doesn't cost alot, is easy to live with, and has plenty of performance and aftermarket pieces.

Most SUVs are bought by women (over 55%), and when you add in all the guys whose wives influenced their decision, you'll probally get something like 80%. Somehow, I suspect you don't think of a Chevy Tahoe as a "girly" ride.

6) GTO would make a great Camaro.
I can see that. I used to think Monaro would make a good Camaro till I got inside one & drove it. Too isolated, too much power junk, and (can't believe I'm saying this) too roomy inside.

7) Even a 19 year old with a part time job should be able to afford one.
19 year olds working a part time job need to wait till they get older and get a better job.

8) I hope the 5th gen looks like a 4th gen.

9) I hope the 5th gen looks like a 3rd gen.
Then buy a 4th gen or 3rd gen Camaro. Not everyone wants to go into a 5 year finance program of $500 plus comprehensive insurence rates for something they could get today as a 19 year old working a part time job.

10) The Camaro died because of it's "no compromise performance design".
Camaro died because it's market changed, it didn't, and it got to a point where the engine was no longer able to cover for the rest of the car.

Cool

In all seriousness, every Saturday morning for the past few weeks, when I sit down at my desk, there's a new G6 GT in front of me. I am reminded how the wheelbase of this car is TEN FULL INCHES LONGER than a 4th gen, despite being a little shorter overall. When I go outside and look at the Z later, it looks pretty damn goofy to me...

I am sure this will be fixed next time...

I agree on the overhangs. I have photochopped mine off and like the look much better! It's true, looking at a 4th gen without any bias FOR it, it does look pretty damn goofy.

I dunno...For some reason I remember seeing skid pad numbres of .81 for the new Mustang GT. Now I dont usualy go by skid pad numbers for handling, but .81 is sad over all.

Skidpad #'s are mainly deterimed by the tires, not the car itself. Put a set of those Kuhmo autocross tires on it and see what type of skidpad numbers you would get.

Also, the Camaro should be much smaller than the 4th gen, and should have a usuable interior and trunk. I'd also like to see the return of a trunk, along with a side window for the back seat. Maybe do it like the 1st gen car did, make it a pillarless hardtop.

Now the style should be completely over the top. It should be rolling sculputure, but don't make it like the 4th gen, where the style limited the car's usefulness.

Re: Camaro killing views.....

I still think the 5th gen should evolve off the looks of the 4th gen's.. and go about it like what they did from c5 -> c6.

lop a few inches off either end, and push the wheels further out.. greenhouse may need some fidgeting to get the dimensions right. I like the 4th gen integrated rear spoiler, the early 4th gen hood scoops(the ones that go in), and maybe the blunt nose of the ls1, but square flush lights.. someone made a pic like this before i believe..

base it off a good platform, healthy v8, irs, good build quality and materials, good price.

This is coming from a 4th (and 3rd) gen fan though.. trouble with us Camaro owners, is we're usually heavily split and bias on what gen Camaro we prefer.

I bet a RWD LS2 Aveo would be fun to drive if you had traction... or room for the driver considering you'd push the firewall back 8", have a huge transmission tunnel, big rear tires and the gas tank and pumpkin right there. That's an awesome idea!

I saw an Asian Woman step out of a H2 at the mall - she was at most 5'1" and 100lb. Scared does adequatly NOT describe how I felt at that sight...

Thats the problem! Just make the Engine that good again.

Needs better seats. The GTO Seats are wonderful, as are the C5 AND C6 ones. I think the new Mustang seats still arent very good though...
