DETROIT -- Cadillac has set the base price of its 2004 SRX mid-sized luxury SUV at $38,690, including a $695 destination charge.
That price applies to the version equipped with a 3.6-liter, 260-hp V-6. Another version powered by a 4.6-liter, 320-hp V-8 will start at $46,995, including a $695 destination charge.
The SRX will appear in dealerships this fall. It will be built on General Motors' rwd Sigma luxury architecture at the Lansing (Mich.) Grand River plant.
Both versions offer power third-row seats and all-wheel drive as options.

Cadillac is late-to-market with its crossover, and they obviously don't feel the need to have a price advantage. That is just the sort of sloth and arrogance I'd expect from the Cadillac brand.
While the SRX is one of my favorite Suv/crossovers its price is a little high. The new Lexus RX is selling like hotcakes but infinitis's FX34/45 are selling slow and often they are being sold/leased for $4000 under MSRP an in some cases they are selling for invoice. My local Infinti dealers has over 125 Fx's on the lot and they are not moving. Even the Porsche Cayenne's sales will most likely tank after all those who wanted it get it and the newness wears off since it looks like a Hyundai Santa Fe on steriods.

I absolutely love the SRX. That price is a tad high though if you consider the V8 almost climbs into Escalade territory. Oh well....the people who purchase these won't be caring about price anyhow. It's nice to see GM priced the regular Joe out of a nice piece of automobile.

I've seen several driving around, in fact I followed one in traffic for about 3 miles a few days back. Nice vehicle, very new and energetic good for Caddy and GM. While it wasn't hitting my sweet spot I can see it selling well. Compared to the Lincoln Avaitor this is head and shoulders above it. Atleast it doesn't look like a Envoy!
