Cadillac Prices CTS-V from $49,995
Considering that a fully loaded CTS with the Sport Luxury package runs $43,590.00, this isn't such a bad deal.
Personally, I'd like to see a version of the CTS with the regular LS1 and the automatic tranny for a few grand cheaper than the V. The 350hp Vette runs $44,535.00 - $48,235.00, while the Z06 run $52,385.00 - $56,720.00. So a 345hp/M4 CTS could run $41,500 - $46,000 or so and fit perfectly in line.

Not bad at all. I'd even call it a bargain (if a 50k car can be considered a bargain).
The next few years should be interesting. BMW will be rolling out a 500+hp v10 M5. With a new z06 with a rumored 500hp said to be on the way, it shouldn't be too hard to make the CTS-V just as competitive.

According to BMW's web site, the M3 starts at $48k, $2k cheaper than the CTSV. I was hoping for the $45k starting price since it is a hopped up version of a car that starts @ $31k base. I guess it will all depend on what comes standard.

a loaded V6 CTS is about $40K so $10K more seems fair for what you get. This is a luxury car, and luxury cars were never ment to be cheap.

Your assuming that the CTSV comes loaded, and that consumers will care if the car is limited production or not. The CTSV may be $57k loaded and may not have all the features that the M3 has. If I have a choice between the 2, I would deffinately put them both on the scale, and if it came out even, I would buy a BMW.

The CTSv will not cost over $51,195 loaded, the only option is sunroof
Oh, how about HUD, Onstar, that night vision thing, and Sattelite radio????

. I'm sure demand will be very high, and production fairly limited. Even more so than the zo6 (which isn't really limited). By comparison, an M3 has a base price of 46k, and options can bring it upto 54k. A 400hp Jag S-type R comes fully loaded at 61k. The M5 and 400+ hp AMG sedans come in at significantly more.
Personally i don't know if i'd pick a CTS-V over an M5 or similar AMG or even an M3, much in the same way i probably wouldn't pick a CTS over a 3-series. It's a hard choice. Do you go for the traditional offering (BMW ///M, AMG, or 400hp Jag) or do you go for the new guy with the new look?? All are attractive, and the CTS-V clearly looks like the better value. But in this class of premium performance machines, value at times is overlooked. When you have the money, that's a luxury one can excercise
.Realistically i'd go for the CTS-V cause of my current financial situation which tends to favor best-buys, but if i actually had the money to afford an M5, i'd opt for that instead.

Has that been set in stone that it will be limited production and that they will only build a certain amount even if orders exceed that? After all, they said it was being built on the exact same line as the regular CTS. Its not going to a special room to be fitted with V parts. I don't know if the ZO6 is limited, never heard of that one, but I do know there are no waiting lists to buy a Z. I think they only sell something like 5k Z's a year or less and thats because that is where the demand is at. I can see some mark ups in the first couple of months when they are hard to come by, then will come sticker, then below, etc just like every other GM vehicle if the car market hasn't picked up. After all, GM put its flagship sports car (the Vette) at 0% for 5 yrs, I got that on top of $1000 over invoice. I'll trade it in for the V prolly the end of next summer when I can chop at least $1k off the sticker, or I'll wait.

Even if Cadillac built 10,000 units a year, I think they'd sell every single one with ease. But i don't think that's Caddilacs goal. It sounds stupid, and it really doesn't do wonders for profits, but it does wonders for the brands image. Rarity gives that brand mystique, and i'm sure V wants to be held to the same levels as AMG and ///M.
Yeah, markups are common among new performance cars. That dies as the hype wears off within the first year or two. On some models though, it's never-ending. I think that's the case with the M5. I doubt BMW dealers sell them at msrp, even with them nearing the end of their life-cycle. I don't think that'll be the case with Cadillac since they'll probably try and curb that (or i'm hoping).
