This may spark an interesting discussion.

The thing in the video will definitely kill the upcoming LS6 CTS-V. FYI, it seems that the guy swapped in a GN motor in CTS.
Wouldn't it be nice to have V6 turbo an optional engine on CTS? For that matter, is there anyone out there making turbo kits for these cars yet? May be a good way to add some 60 HP (not necessarily a beast for 11 second passes).

Now to me, it didn't sound completely like a GN motor.
When he did his burn-out, the pitch of the engine was too high. My buddys GN exhaust note is much deeper and throatier.
Then again, the intake and exhaust plumbing would be all different in the CTS and therefore would probably alter the sound.
It absolutely sounded like a GN when he pulled his foot out of it after the burn-out.

It sounded 100% like a GN. The turbo had the high pitch whine not the motor. I just got done watching videos of about 200 runs at our buick picnic yesterday, not to mention watching the same videos every damn picnic. I have hours of tape of these things. This was also posted on tb.com and either the owner or an aquatience posted that it was in fact a GN motor.
Here's the owners thread on tb.com. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sho...light=cadillac
There are also other threads to describe how he did the swap.

According to a later post, it's a race built 4.1 block with a turbo in that CTS. If true, it's not like the guy took a GN engine & bolted it in with only a few mods. Do a similar race-type rebuild on a CTSv, and you can no doubt do the same thing..... and quite possibly top him.

I think he didn't want to do it because I don't beleive there are many aftermarket lower end parts for the CTS engine, you'd have to custom do all the headers/exhause etc. The 4.1 block is almost the exact same, dimensions as the 3.8 that is why all the parts of a sock LC2 Gn motor bolt up to it. He is in the process of shaking the car down and has alot more to go for alot less money than a CTSv will cost.

You pointed out the lack of lower end pieces for Caddy's 3.2 engine. Didn't he have to do alot of custom work anyway to fit the 4.1 in there? The 3.2 is a 60 degree design versus the 3.8/4.1 V6's 90. If so, why go with the weaker 4.1 over the GN 3.8?

I asked on the Buick board why in 3 posts in the title he calls it an LC2 engine (stock 3.8 GN motor) but no one answered.
