The strategy has been working. The average age of a Cadillac buyer has dropped from the 50s into the 40s.

In case you've been living under a rock for the past 6 years, Cadillac has completely shifted their lineup. They no longer make "old man's boat" cars. Their products are just as good as any of the luxury European manufacturers, and better than the Japanese luxury brands. Having a sport division adds credibility to the brand.

Ha, watch what you say, you'll have everyone accuse you of not knowing what's been going on with them as if you just found out they make high performance models.

Why? Every other luxo brand does it. M, AMG, RS, F, S, etc...
If you mean, taking it into the range of a supercar, well, that's just GM being GM

Well in your mind, what makes a brand like Chevy (for example) more suited than Cadillac for performance cars? Just asking.

The V cars are GM's answer to AMG and 'M'. It's a halo car for Cadillac. I am assuming you'd rather not see Cadillac as your grandfather's car from yesteryear....

I read a blog the other day on the net that GM is running the ZR1 at the Ring now "to put the GT-R in its place".

It works pretty well for the other luxury name plates. Hell it's sad that Cadillac is the only American name plate that is even bothering with luxury AND performance. Too many people think the two have to be mutually exclusive in American cars. Hence our constantly being stuck with hot cars and motors with interiors from the 1985 Tuperware cataloge.
