Re: c6 zo6

Since the Viper is cannon-fodder relative to this car, and the car is not really vaporware any longer, the real question is:

Can the Ford GT fend it off?

550hp vs. 500hp by ratings, 3400 lbs. vs. 2900 lbs. by best current guess.

Given my inherent and admitted bias towards all things Corvette, my money's on America's Sports Car.

Re: c6 zo6

I used to think it would take the GT, but the GT's engine is underrated even at 550 hp. The thing accelerates like an Enzo (high 120s to low 130s in the 1/4). The Viper doesn't play in that league. Unless the more recent GTs are ringers, and the earlier tests against the Viper were more correct.

The Z06 should do fine against the Viper, but I don't think it will quite take a GT. At least not in a straight line... (now, on a race track...). Of course, at less than half the price of a GT, it should not be required to beat it either...

The Z06 will simply be an awesome beast. But unfortunately, that 2900 lbs figure that's been going around, is very optimistic.

I think the Z06 would do well, but I believe the GT has nothing to worry about.

Ford GT 0-60: 3.3 seconds 1/4: 11.6 sec Top Speed: 205 mph (official from Ford, but clocked at 212 mph)

Yeah, I'm biased, the GT is badass. I like the Z06 especially since I can actually afford to buy it in a couple of years, however, the GT is just a dream - for now.

Personally I want to see these two go head to head on a track. We know the GT is awesome on the track with its superb handling. Will a possible 400 lbs. difference come into play? Maybe, maybe not. I'm certain we'll see these two in a future magazine match up and I'm looking forward to it. For now I'm considering the Z06 the "poor" man's GT.

Are these pictures embargoed as well or is this legitimate? Regardless, I love everything about it.

Re: c6 zo6

Oh yeah, I forgot to add: that looks absolutely BADASS. I don't know if I trust that weight number, but even at regular C6 weight it would be badass. At 2900 lbs, Damn!! Let us remember, everyone, that the ZR1 had 405 hp and weighed, what 3450 to 3500 lbs, give or take? The current Z06 has 405 hp and weighs 3150 lbs or so... Viper is around 3300 I think, with 500 hp.

About the only thing I question is the less seamlessly integrated rear-brake cooling ducts...
