C6/LSx news...

Hit page 9 and zoom in tight on figure 11.

Not only is that 3 valves, that's direct injection also.

Ford should bend over right now and grab their ankles - that should save us some time.

Very small. That would be a 4 Liter engine if it were a V8.

PacerX, what makes you assume that this has ANYTHING to do with the LSx engines? Direct injection and 3 valve head research has been going on for a long time at a number of places. This is just an SAE research paper. The test engine is a single cylinder DOHC Ricardo engine.

Are you just using this as hope that 3 valves and SIDI will be on the Z06 engine? I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. The 3 valve heads are extremely unlikely (despite the rumors flying around here like crazy), and SIDI is just not gonna happen on that engine, at least at first...(not that we would want it to, anyway). :blah:

Yea I have to agree with Camaro_B4c, what does this article have to do with the LSX or the C6? Its great info and I think there is some real gains to a 3valve head with direct injection but it mentions nowhare that this is technology thats going into the C6.

I thought the 3 valve head thing was pretty much certain for all the new LSx engines?

The only official or reported news that I've seen on this board is that the 3-valve is in development. Of course....that could mean anything! One thing is for certain....there will be no questions in 3 months!!

It may not be for the Lsx/C6 but it shows that GM is working on future engine technology.

It may shoe up on a cadillac engine or future lsx engines. I wouldn't rule it out of the c6 yet. It may not debut at the intial launch of the base and zo6. But who knows what team corvette has planned.

Any body know if the c5r uses direct injection?

And even then we won't know what the wild next Z06 replacement will actually have since it won't be introduced for a while after that! I'm tired of waiting, I'll give Lutz a call and find out.
