BYU Industrial Design - 5th Gen Camaro
Ben Meissner has a rather disturbing concept where the driver and passenger seem to be sitting on motorcycle seats inside the car. It's one of the sketches towards the end (right side). I'm not so sure what the message is here. Is open-wheel supposed to be the new trend now? Why do people want to add 'off-road capabilities' to a Camaro?
guys i think thats cool. but gm has a history of involvement in vehicles they never intended to produce....id love the fcar to come back but it wont.....a gm exec at the st therese quebec plant was quoted at the celebration of the last camaro off the line, when asked if there would ever be a 5th gen camaro, he said "this is the last camaro"
This was a good idea to get a feel what people want an F5 to look like, but I agree......very few look like a Camaro probably should. Its supposed to be a modern muscle car, not a UFO on wheels. There was one nice one that had a third gen feel to it that was cool, nothing else was quite right. If this is another one of GM's great ideas where they get an F5 project rolling without going through us (the F-Body public) first, we may as well go buy some panzie Mustang. GM has dissapointed us too many times...

Good idea, poor execution.
We need to slip Ted and 90Z28 SS into the BYU program

Thanks Guys!I love Robert Jesen's interpretations (Iv seen his work before, he's really good!). A lot of the other designers, while excellent, seem to not know what Camaro means/represents to us harcore enthusiasts.
BTW...most of the 5th gen Camaro concepts that have been seen in this forum over the years (by me and other members) can be found at 5thgencamaro.com (still undergoing renovation, with tons of new content coming in the next couple of weeks)

Did those guys know they were designing a real car?
I could come up with something that was at least realistic.
The Solstice turned out to look a lot like the last car I sketched. (which was 6 months earlier than the Solstice was shown). It's not great, but at least looks like a real car.

That looks quite nice, and yes, a lot like the Solstice. I just now got a scanner, now if I can just figure out how to get some of my pics on the web. I have hundreds, literally.
By the way !!TED!!, I especially like this picture.
The car looks very realistically proportioned. Very impressive.
