Seems more like a pride thing. But I imagine what would happen is China would move all the factories to China unless they can keep ones here and get around tariffs. I doubt it would be as fun to work for GM as for Toyota though.

Why? So what if a foreign government owns a US company, that's better than our government taking another step toward the inevitable socialist destruction that awaits us.

I don't see what the problem is, just don't buy GM products anymore. Either because you don't want to (if China owns it) or because you can't (they're out of business).
