Yeah, I'm just concerned with it looking cool driving down the street . Let me rephrase that question then... "How many people buy a car just for autocross?"

 

More than you might think buy a car just for autocross although many more have a car they've dedicated to autocross even if they didn't "buy" in initially for that purpose.

SCCA Solo2 is intended to be "low cost" and safe form of competition...you can literally compete in almost anything that's in good mechanical condition so you don't have to spend thousands in modifications/racing equipment but lot's of guys (and girls for that matter) do spend quite a bit in modifications and wheels and racing rubber, etc.

 

I don't mean to knock it or anything, I'm just saying... actually... I forgot what I was really saying... ah just forget about it . Buy a car you like to drive or like the look of, don't buy one just because other people like it. That was my main message.

If you like the way a Cavalier looks better than any other $11,000 or whatever car, yet you know it was the worst rated car in its class, who cares? If you like it, you like it, if you don't, then you don't.

Back on topic though, I couldn't find the demographics for the Mustang. I emailed Ford about it and expect a response by Tuesday.

 

Here's the demographics. The guy didn't give me any more information than this. I did email him back asking about competitors though. I know Ford considers the Mitsubishi Eclipse as a competitor still, but not what else.

I just (last night as a matter of fact) bought a new 350Z and the only other car I considered enough to drive was a C6.

Withe the F-body out of the picture, there really isn't anything else in the same category as the Mustang...of course part of the point of the "Pony car" was that it really defined a whole new category of car (Damm I miss the Camaro/Firebird!)
