Re: Buick Encore

Honestly, seeing how small it is in full, it looks rather ridiculous to me.

Then again, just about all mini-midget cars pretty much do....

Yeah, I didn't realize this was based on the Sonic, I thought it was bigger. I'll have to see this one in person.

Re: Buick Encore

I think it looks pretty good and it will probably do well for Buick (especially if gas prices go up over $4).

If Buick wants to attract younger buyers this is not type of vehicle to do it, not some large sedan.

18" wheels and 1.4L turbo engine are standard. It may be tough for some here to understand, but there are people out there that don't care about performance and want luxury and great fuel economy.

Re: Buick Encore

It was pretty clear to me when the teaser photo was halfway uncovered that this thing was going to be tiny (and clearly smaller than the Vue).

I still hope it does well, but I don't have any use for such a vehicle personally. It looks decent, but as others have said, it is difficult to make a vehicle of such proportions and not have it look a little funky. Interior looks pretty nice. If that is a touch screen, though, isn't it sort of inconveniently placed?

Re: Buick Encore

This has my wife written all over it! Mid 30's, middle class, kids are in grade school and no longer a "Car Destroyer", wants something really nice to drive to work that won't break the bank, good mpg and something that we can all fit in for short/in town trips.

Yep, I think this could end up in our driveway.... perhaps I missed it, what is the pricepoint on this thing? do we know?

I can think of a lot of women that would rather drive this then say a Buick Regal or Verano. Crossover is still a more "in" car then a sedan.

Re: Buick Encore

What a smart move by Buick/GM...this thing looks great both inside and out. It should get great MPG, it looks luxurious, and it should come in at an attractive price point...

Re: Buick Encore

See, to me, putting little 'luxury econo-cars' in a supposed mid-to-upscale brand is pretty much the same thing as putting the G3 in the Pontiac lineup.

It just doesnt fit.

Well, to me anyway.

Would slightly overweight hamsters fit in this comfortably?

If they put this car at Cadillac then I would agree with you, but not at Buick. I think this car and the Verano are so Buick has something to sell the next time gas prices spike up. If you look at the entire 2013+ line up, Buick is positioned very well for $5.00 gasoline.

In 2008 American car makers got killed when they had nothing fuel efficient to sell. The best GM had for automatic transmission cars in 2008 was 32mpg Aveo and a 31mpg Cobalt. Pathetic.

About the same size as a VW Tiguan.

Best I could come up with for comparison since they are on the same platform…
