Buick considering VXR/OPC version of Regal?

From Tell Fritz:

08/27/09 Jeff Beeman said:
Are there any plans on bringing a performance version of the Buick Regal to the US market similar to the Vauxhall Insignia VXR or the Opel Insignia OPC?

Here's the response: Jeff, Nothing to announce at this point, but having a vehicle with the performance characteristics found in the Opel OPC is certainly a good fit with the direction we want to move Buick -Susan Docherty, General Manager, Buick-Pontiac-GMC

I'm curious to see what direction they do have in mind for Buick, and more importantly, if it will work. Always good to have a performance car to generate some buzz.

I would seriously consider buying that if it happened.

What would be the price point for it? I imagine $35k+?

...and bring here AS IS from the UK ...manual trans , AWD the Recaro's must stay, none of this decontented for the US or Aura that only had visual Opel cues . The Insignia OPC/VXr is quite impressive imo . Now that Saturn and Pontiac is gone , 1 US brand could sell the Opels and Holdens like it is everywhere else in the world . With the new Lacross in showrooms , Drop that Lucerne and get the Commodore in Calais trim over here while their at it as the halo

I agree with this post 100% regarding the de-contenting... bring it over intact.

This is from the webchat link I posted above....This couldn't hurt our chances of a Grand National.....
Susan Docherty: Oh great question. I used to have a black Buick Grand National as my company car when I lived in Manitoba - many decades ago. Many of the local police officiers and Canadian Mounties knew my by name. It was a smoking hot car!
