The Bonneville GXP has the Northstar V8 engine in it but it's pontiacs version. It's a good looking car, but I would take a Charger R/T ANY DAY of the week over it. It's wrong wheel drive and that just kills it.

Quick update....
Went back this evening and finally drove it. I admit I REALLY liked the car, but best they would do is $28.8k plus TTT.
While that is a huge mark-down it still seems too high (IMO) for what it is. All things considered not a bad price.
I entertained the idea of trading the SS for it (loaded A4 with <5100 miles).... $16k
I know that's how they turn a profit, but dayum.....
If they kept it at $28.8 and gave me $21k for my car (still owe a ton on it at $18.7k), I would have done it. Yea, I know- the guys that sell cars for a living are prolly rolling on the floor laughing right now....
Just can't do it, seeing how I'm upside-down over ten grand the day I sign the papers- even at that price and tack a number of years onto my current payments.
I'll call them back tomorrow out of courtesy, but I guess I'll continue to wait for the release of a new RWD sedan from GM.

Yeah, I'm here now...sorry!!!! I've had a lot going on as of late, and rarely have a chance to make it over here...
$28,800 is dirt cheap. DIRT CHEAP. That sounds like invoice - holdback - all rebates the car originally qualified for - maybe an arm and a leg, too???
Considering that's probably about $10k off, that's a great deal. I like the Bonnie GXPs a lot, and have often considered getting one used someday for a driver, but with the 5th gen looming, it looks like the Grand Prix will be staying put for, oh, another 100k or so 
For a little less $$$, you could look at an '06 Grand Prix GXP. Better performance, better handling, better MPG, less $$$, better resale value. The tradeoff, personally, is that I love the look of the Bonnie GXP...its the modern looking Q-ship the damn thing should have been in 2000! The GP GXP, on the other hand, looks racy but the overall style leaves me a little cold. The torque steer in both is minimal...the biggest difference is the torque in the GP with the LS4 versus the Northstar...the Northstar doesn't wake up until 3,500, but when it does, the SOUND is amazing

I'd rather drive a GP GXP. I'd rather cruise in and be seen in a Bonnie GXP. I realize you already said that you can't afford the Bonnie, which is too bad. They're a great car...its a lot of car for under $30k, IMO. Its best competition is its little brother, though
