Bob Lutz speaks!
Bob Lutz had some interesting comments at the GM financial analysts meeting.
Solstice:
Still being studied. But if approved will ride on a new small RWD platform. Key to this platform will be "borrowing" already engineered and proven components from GM world wide.
Also, making this platform widely available to GM divisions.
Pushrods:
They have a bright future at GM.
G6:
Lutz describes it as a "conceptized" next gen Grand Am.
Buick:
Fasten your seat belts. Buick will fill in where Caddy was as Caddy goes upscale. Lutz describes it as an "aspirational" line with beautiful design, interiors and details.
Bonneville GXP:
Cost $50M to develop.
A bunch more........

Also....
He stressed how, worldwide, every GM division would have the opportunity to build a portfolio by choosing global architectures and "Bill of Material" (parts and components), from any GM division or even partner.
So, is Sigma really such a Cadillac sacred cow, or could Chevy end up using all or part of it?
Or......
Will the next Camaro be a Solstice platform mate?

He said, even though it was ugly, it's Epsilon architecture would have the feel and quality comparable to anything from Europe. (ACTUALLY, I JUST ADDED THE PART ABOUT BEING UGLY
).

Unfortunately yes. The emphasis is definately on Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac right now. Look at the Malibu vs Grand Am (G6 concept ).
They will be virtual mechanical twins under the skin.
Which one would you buy?
Let's see what the S/C Monte Carlo and Impala are like. If they do a good job on those....I guess that will be a start. But what Chevy really needs are great cars! With a commitment FROM THE TOP to bring back some of that Chevy magic.
If the future of Chevy is frumpy sedans and bland trucks....then I need to do more homework on the new Mustang.
The Prowler? Sorry, that car was all show and no go. It would be a joke to call that a performance car. The Impala SS coming in Chicago next month will be more of a performance car than that monstrosity! So, which Plymouth of the 1990's is a matchup for a 2004 Impala SS?
i'd have to agree other then the corvette which will abviously not ever be killed seems to me that chevby is getting shunned by GM
1. Cadillac upscaling
2. Buick filling in for Cadillac
3. Pontiac going for BMW
4. Chevy fast food of dealers beside ford what is with that crap
