IMO, BMW went from having some of the best looking cars in the world just a few years ago to some of the ugliest now. In fact, I think they are the only car company I know of that doesn't have a single model that looks even mediocre to me. And this one is at least as bad as the others. It's downright depressing.

 

My sentiments exactly. I thought the BMWs right before this current 'style' were hands down the best looking cars on the road.

They look down right fugly these days.

Actually, the part of the 6-series that offends me is the 7-series "inspired" rear-end. Overall, the more expensive BMWs are, the less I like them.

 

Here's a new and confusing update on the North American version of the BMW 1-series.


There apparently will be a 4 cylinder "loss leader" version for the USA - and most likely it will be turbocharged. No word on whether it's the long rumored 200hp turbocharged version of BMW's current 2.0 liter or the same joint venture BMW/Peugeot ~170hp 1.6 liter that the Mini Cooper S is getting.

 

This is getting ridiculous.

I don't think that BMW really needs to get into this market. I can see it in Europe, but not here. They don't need to sell compact cars. Besides, isn't that what the mini is for

 

Now that a 325i is starting at around $32K, it's pretty obvious that there's plenty of room beneath the new E90 3-series. Ironically, there won't be that much room in the back of the 1-series.

Actually, the surprising sales success of the Mini has actually encouraged BMW to bring the 1-series to the United States sooner.

 

I wasn't gonna read this thread. I thought there wouldn't be anything in here I would agree with, but I guess I was wrong! Just get a Cadillac.
