Maybe an SS model but I doubt it will be an option in the regular Tahoe. That gives the Denali and Escalade something the Tahoe doesn't have.

how is the torque down low on the 6.0 vs the 6.2? The escalade has massive power down low, but the 5.3 is weak sauce down low.

My wife's Avalanche has a 5.3L and it has more than enough power IMO.

I must agree, the 6.0 should be at least an option for the LTZ trucks.
I went to a big chevy dealer around me, and they had a loaded 2LT Silvy for 41.5k and only the 5.3...I just didnt think that for 41.5k that a 5.3 is worthless when compared to Titan's 5.6 and Ram's 5.7. I think that no chevy truck should go over 40k with a 5.3.

I think the 6.2 would be great for a Tahoe SS!

My dad's Silverado seems pretty quick with the 5.3. It's no muscle car mind you, but I wouldn't exactly call it "weak" either.

It IS a regular production truck, afterall..... Not a Lightning or SRT-10.

I've driven 5.3L Suburbans. Felt pretty good to me. 5.3L DoD V8s get great mileage too. Anyone else remember when 320HP was a lot for a truck

Actually, what I personally will like better would be the 6 speed auto rather than a bigger engine. The rpm drops between shifts seems massive when accelerating from a stop.. and It would be really nice to get the equiv of a 4speed+4.10's lower gears, with the tall highway gear of the equiv of the 4speed 3.73's together.. with an extra gear stuck in the middle to even out the shifts.

I too have the 5.3L in a 2004 Avalanche.. Its not fast, but its definintly not slow.. There's times though where I think an extra gear in between would be a little more optimal in accleration in certain gear/rpm/loads.

It would be nice if the Tahoe and Suburban got a Duramax Diesel option, along with the H2
