Bastardization at its finest...V6 Vette
Re: Bastardization at its finest...V6 Vette
They will sell well for sure - especially among women who would LOVE to drive a Corvette, care nothing about power, and can now finally afford to.
I dunno... if it's a high feature content V6 - like 300hp or so... wouldn't be so bad.
Only problem is it will water down the Corvette name.

I dunno, doesn't sound all that bad. The standard Corvette would still exist with this additional car off a different platform and powertrains slotted below it. A V6 Kappa for $30,000 with Corvette '50s/60s styling...
Just get power above the GXP/RL's 260 HP; 240 HP doesn't sound like enough.
As long as it doesn't embarass the name (and apparently it's not Stingray) it would be a nice direct competitor for the import roadsters (BMW Z4/M, 350Z, S2000, etc). Of course you could argue, why not put the V6 in Solstice/Sky and leave it for that market? Maybe GM doesn't think those cars have enough legs to stretch from low $20,000s to near/low $40,000s.
And hopefully they find a way to put a usable trunk in it.

Sounds like a decent plan to me. And, why not use Stingray? I'm a former Corvette owner, and probably future again once the kiddos get older, and I don't really have a problem with that. Even the C4 was a world apart from anything resembling a "Stingray," and certainly the market would demand a Corvette like heritage coupe in limited numbers given all the new/old C1s & C2s being built.
Who can argue against a nimble affordable two-seater with a high content 6 cyl?

beside the name the car sounds real cool. i hope they build it.
Re: Bastardization at its finest...V6 Vette
This car will sorta be like the OLD Opel GT!
Just like a "mini" 'Vette!
Hmmm, yeah, I wonder if this will really fly?
Why DON'T they just have an up-UP-grade for the Sky/Solstice?!
