Although I think it isn't the best move, at least I'll be able to smack down some vettes now.

They will sell well for sure - especially among women who would LOVE to drive a Corvette, care nothing about power, and can now finally afford to.

I dunno... if it's a high feature content V6 - like 300hp or so... wouldn't be so bad.

Only problem is it will water down the Corvette name.

So far I'm filing this under notgonnahappen.org

At least not with the Stingray name.

Thats what I got out of this article too. Not a v6 corvette, but a v6 Kappa with corvette lines.

I dunno, doesn't sound all that bad. The standard Corvette would still exist with this additional car off a different platform and powertrains slotted below it. A V6 Kappa for $30,000 with Corvette '50s/60s styling... Just get power above the GXP/RL's 260 HP; 240 HP doesn't sound like enough.

As long as it doesn't embarass the name (and apparently it's not Stingray) it would be a nice direct competitor for the import roadsters (BMW Z4/M, 350Z, S2000, etc). Of course you could argue, why not put the V6 in Solstice/Sky and leave it for that market? Maybe GM doesn't think those cars have enough legs to stretch from low $20,000s to near/low $40,000s.

And hopefully they find a way to put a usable trunk in it.

I got from the article it would lean toward a heritage look. The Sky is more of a C6 in looks.

Sounds like a decent plan to me. And, why not use Stingray? I'm a former Corvette owner, and probably future again once the kiddos get older, and I don't really have a problem with that. Even the C4 was a world apart from anything resembling a "Stingray," and certainly the market would demand a Corvette like heritage coupe in limited numbers given all the new/old C1s & C2s being built.

Who can argue against a nimble affordable two-seater with a high content 6 cyl?

This car will sorta be like the OLD Opel GT! Just like a "mini" 'Vette!

Hmmm, yeah, I wonder if this will really fly? Why DON'T they just have an up-UP-grade for the Sky/Solstice?!

Bad move. Chevy doesn't need a Sostice/Sky clone. They will have the Camaro vert. and for $30K it better have a V8

So much for GM not cloning across divisions! If Chevy can have a Solstice/Sky clone, then I want my Firebird clone of the Camaro

Fine but it will have 2 less cylinders, like the theoretical V6 Corvette. So what color do you want your 4 cylinder base model or 6 cylinder top model in?
