Base, midgrade, or loaded. How did YOU actually get your Camaro?

On another thread I started wondering how many people here actually bought a base Z28. I know many of you ended up with an SS, most of you got their cars loaded, and a few of you bought loaded V6 Camaro RSs that cost alot more than base Z28s did.
Even if you bought your car used, does it have cloth seats & roll up windows? Or is it loaded to the teeth.
For the record, my Z28 I bought used just over a year old (missing that 30% depriciation & still having a new car
), and it has every option in the book (6 speed manuals were no cost options that year).

I didnt vote, but I have an 86 IROC so I guess thats equavelent to an SS
If I were going to buy a new one now, it would be along the lines of a B4C car. All go very little show, to keep down the price. The only thing i demnd is the right color as far as showy stuff.

I have purchased two Camaros...
A 1989 RS 5.0 A4
and
A 1999 Z28 M6
Both were cloth interiors... with medium levels of options.... so I guess I purchased "Mid-Range" cars in the past.
At this point in my life (31 years old) ... I would probably opt for top of the line stuff... but I did go the mid-range route in the past when that was the best I could do.

I won't vote since my car is not a Camaro. But, it does sort-of qualify as both loaded and a base model. It is an '02 Formula Firehawk optioned as follows:
from GM :
6spd. manual with Hurst
TCS
Cloth seats
From SLP:
base Firehawk package (345 HP)
Auburn rear
1LE suspension
painted wheels
Mats,cover,portfolio,deck mat
If I could have had an RS Camaro built like this , I might have chosen a Chevy over the Hawk.

So, I do feel it is important that any 'mid-range' car be different enough from the top car to warrant spending the money on the top car.
Things falling under this are: looks, handling, power (an actual different motor) , braking, luxury items, etc....
Generally speaking, I order my cars in the highest performance state possible. Unless cost is completely out of line, I won't even flinch at the extra cost these pieces/packages command. While I'm not necessarrilly into strippers...I am concious of the performance penalties involved with such options. That's why I usually don't go for things like auto, t-tops and gizmos.
When I ordered my IROC...I was looking for the highest performance combo that I could get with a manual trans. I did order a couple of the convenience packages but that was only because some of the individual options I wanted were bundled together with them. I'm not that much of an audiophile either. Although my IROC has the factory premium stereo....I usually just listen to my N10 dual cat exhaust popping and burbling.
I came T**H**I**S close to getting a 1LE, but at the last millisecond, I changed my mind, in order to get AC. I was under the mistaken assumption that this car would be my daily driver....if I only knew that 15 years later my IROC would have less than 10,000miles on it, I would have gotten the 1LE for sure!

Not really sure if mine would be loaded/almost loaded or just mildly optioned since it is missing the CD changer and has 2.73 gears...
Bought mine @ 3 years/36K miles, so don't know the exact bottom line from 2000.
I voted for mildly optioned... Maybe I should've gone for the fully/almost fully...?
Decisions, decisions...

Isn't this topic better-suited for the lounge?
Anyhow... back when I had my 94Z28, it had everything except leather and the SS package.
I actually didn't want leather... I like the cloth (especially the two-tone cloth in that year of Camaro) a lot better for comfort and durability.
If I had to buy one all other again, I would only buy one for a weekend car, and in that case I'd probably buy a stripper Z28 or stripper SS for weight savings and reliability.

I picked Camaro RS with some options. Mine isn’t a RS, just a V6 and I also bought used. However overall it’s pretty loaded and pretty much what I wanted. The only options I don’t have are leather, cruise control, an auto and a V8. The only one I really want is the V8.
Full load (GM & SLP) SS 'vert ..... however ....that will not necessarily repeat itself.
I've learned that performance and a 'vert are not the best mix ....soooo... I've since bought a Zed28 Hardtop that I'm sripping to use as a dedicated autoX / lapping car.
I'm anything but "mainstream" in most things.

Bought mine used. I was real close to picking up a low mileage '97 1LE, and that is what I really wanted, but it seemed to have a serious tranny issue, and a little bit of an intake leak so I passed since the owner was a little too proud of it. Ultimately, I picked up my low mileage '95, which is loaded & no issues, for about the same money I was willing to pay for the 1LE.
My personal preference for a 5th gen model would be a 6 speed, 1LE type package, with cruise, AC, power locks, power brakes, power steering, and CD player. The rest I could do without. I rarely take the T-tops out, and the leather is too dang hot in the summer. I would opt for a 1LE handling/brake package since I like attending track day events here and there, but otherwise it's a daily driver.
Granted, if the loaded Z came in close to the same dollars because of dealer discounts etc ... My wife would probably suggest getting the loaded car (she wasn't fond of the 1LE).
I've gotta add, if GM would make a 5th Gen Camaro along the lines originally stated for the Z06, then it could justify a loaded Z price, i.e. trade the comfort and convenience bells and whistles for bolt ons that make it track ready ... PS cooler and engine/suspension/brakes upgrades.

a 99 Z28 with a good amount of options.. power windows and power door locks, driver powered seat, cd player, t-tops, perf tire, cruise, ac no trac control or leather.
except for the t-tops, thats pretty much what I'd expect on a street car though.
If they make another 5th gen with a real targa top though, I guess it'll depend on how it looks.. else I'll just get a hardtop.. Oh, and 17" wheels, and if they do it right, a brakes and suspension package.. Unless the leather is really nice and I really like how it feels, I'll probably stick to cloth..
