Trying to pin recalls and defects back on the supplier of the part itself is a weak excuse.

Almost all manufacturers have suppliers.

A manufacturer's job is the commission the part batch from a reputable supplier and in a manner that doesn't force the supplier to cut corners in order to keep in schedule or actually turn a small profit, receive the supplies, check them for quality, assemble them, and sell them with their badge on them. GM's badging is all over their cars for a reason. You are buying a "Chevrolet"... not a collection of parts that GM sub contracted on your behalf.

As my original post said, as I replied in that thread, and as you ignored... the poll said that 40% of people didn't think US Automakers were CAPABLE of making a car they'd want. With 60% saying they were capable of building one... NOT that they have or will build something they want.

THAT'S why it was thrown out as a negative... 40% of people don't believe that any US automaker can make a car they'd ever want. While 60% will at least give them a chance if they don't already make something they want. Giving someone a chance doesn't mean they'll ever make something you want... and if they do, who's to say you won't want something else even more?

So once again... no, the poll did NOT state 60% of those people believe US automakers make the cars they want. They just believe that US automakers are capable of building something they want.

Capable is far from definite.
