I don't see NASCAR changing anytime soon. It's more popular now than perhaps at any other time in its history.
Another problem is that a lot of NASCAR fans don't seem to care about the realism of the cars. It's all about the drivers now. People wear jackets and clothing with drivers and their numbers on them, not the Chevy or Ford badge that is on the car. If people were really upset about the direction that the actual cars are headed in the Monte Carlo would never be FWD and competing in NASCAR, and for that matter Ford would be building a Taurus coupe.
