Anyone else read this....
Anyone else read this....
I got on here expecting to read several threads on an article I read in a recent article of Motor Trend but haven't found any. They were talking about a platform that was RWD and smaller than what the GTO is built on. They also mentioned that the next Camaro would be built on this platform and a possible engine choice of a twin turbo V-6 turning 375 hp. Anyone else read this. Please enlighten me of any truths to this.
Just a side question here; Do you like the idea of a TT V-6 or would you prefer a V-8 even it was going to be N/A?

Welcome to six months ago...
The platform they are referring to is called Kappa. It was designed for RWD 4-cylinder platforms, like the new Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky.
The twin turbo V6 comment is based on the fact that Holden produced a Torrana TT concept car based on a modified version of Kappa sporting a V6. Right away people started suggesting that the Torrana was "Camaro-size" and might make a could platform for a new Camaro, provided a V8 could fit.
The rest of the article is pure fabrication and speculation. (Most of it at least six months old.) GM has already said there will be no new Kappa vehicles in development after 2006. (For now Solstice and Sky are it.) GM was working on a replacement for the GTO called Zeta, but has since axed that program in North American for cost reasons. It was much speculated that the new Camaro was going to be on Zeta.
The rest of the story can be found in this forum, just look back at any thread regarding Zeta or Kappa going back over the past year.
As for where we go from here with Camaro? That answer I don't know at this time. However, I'll bet the farm that you'll read about it here long before you ever read about it in the pages of Motor Trend.

Thanks for your insight. I was wondering why there were no comments being made to this post
. I really need to keep a closer eye to this forum but it's hard to get to a computer. Thanks again.
