I dont see how this hinders someones freedom of choice. you could make that argument about all speed limits, and then say that all speed limits should not exist, which would lead to total chaos on the streets. you can still buy an suv, just might not want to as much. same thing with pretty much everything. you could steal, but because there is a law u wouldnt want to. (not the greatest analogy )

Im not trying to blame the automakers, i dont really blame them at all. i just wish people wouldnt buy suv's as much as they do.

I guess maybe i whould reform this to big SUVs like suburbans and excusrsions, etc. and not smaller explorers, etc.

PS: i really dont like the cayenne.

Well, using your logic, then we need to impose other "deterrants" for the good of public safety!

It's a well known (and proven {not an opinion} fact) that high powered sports cars in the hands of young adults increase the probability of accidents. Well, maybe we should quadruple (instead of double) auto insurance on those vehicles from ages 16-35. And, since the national speed limit is 70 MPH at the MAXIMUM, then the fuel cutoff on those vehicles (since they're more prone to be driven above the speed limit) should be set at 75 MPH. And, while we're at it, let's install an accelerometer in all sports cars to detect high cornering forces that will also invoke a fuel cutoff above .75 g.

With those measures in place, "not as many people will want to purchase those small, dangerous vehicles".

Now, how fun will your camaro be to drive, then?

Do you see my point? It's NOT the vehicle that causes accidents, it's the way you drive them that does. I see SEMI's DAILY that follow CARS on the freeway doing 70 MPH with LESS than one car length between them! And there's constant semi - passenger car carnage on the freeway! Does this mean that semi's should be banned?

By the way, how can you go from 0 to ANYWHERE in 5.4 sec's with a V-6??

I can't tow my Camaros with my Cavalier. (so I have a suburban)
And I can't put my family of 5 into my Camaro (all at once) either.
So we had an Astro. Fortunantly.

I can't tell you how glad I am that I was able to be in a vehicle with airbags. When my wife can walk again, she'll be back in the Suburban. If you don't like it, that's tough. She's never slammed into anyone, nor have I - in 20 years of driving I have never crinkled anything. Then one day we got clobbered by a truck.

I will admit, I get peeved seeing yuppie pinheads in their suburbans with leather seats commuting by themselves to work, but just because they got more $$$$ than brains is no reason for me to limit their choice of vehicle. For all I know maybe they appriciate the fact they're in a tank too. (I still commute to my sons rehab in the cavalier).

True, but there is a more structured and challenging liscensing program for Semi Drivers. You can't blame them on how people drive them - but you can blame them for contributing a disproportionate amount of damage to cars when they do collide.

A major annoyance of SUVs (at least to me) is that most people buy them not for towing, hauling cargo, off roading, or carrying lots of people (I rarely see them doing any of these things) but for "safety." By "Safety" they mean safety for themselves at the expense of others. The feeling that if they hit anyone, its tough **** for them, because it's 7000lb vs 3000lb.

http://www.freep.com/money/autonews/...2_20030722.htm

In collisions between cars and light trucks, the passenger-car driver is 3.5 times more likely to die than the driver of the light truck, mainly because light trucks are generally larger and heavier than passenger cars, according to administration data.
The fact that they waste more resources and contribute more to pollution doesn't help their image, either..

i made this name when i was like 14 or something. i saw 0 to insane in 7.0 seconds" on a 70 nova and thought it was cool, but i decided to make it seem faster

WERM sums up one of my major annoyances about them
also the visibility is a factor too.
