One of the best cars (if not the best car) made by a Domestic automaker. I really, REALLY like the new Taurus and SHO.

GM is left in the dust when it comes to the full-size family sedan. The Impala is dated and old. There's no other way to put it. Ford hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th with the Taurus/SHO.

I haven't been this excited about a new car............... in.............. well, I can't even remember.

Sorry I'm posting so much on it, but, as you can tell, I am rather passionate about it.

I agree on how good the Taurus has become. I think that this car will bring some of the buying public back into fullsize cars. Then GM will go.......... "hmmmm........... I guess they do sell after all," and start work on a competitor.

Does anyone think they'll ever offer a manual for it?

Nice looking car though. Very impressed.

The website said 18/28 for the non-SHO version. I think.....

Oh, when looking at base prices, look at AWD versions.............. if you want to be comparable.

The SHO is about Audi A8/7-series BMW sized. Which is just what I want (I was looking at 1-2 year old A8's).
Either way, the price is still high. That will detract a lot of buyers on the SHO version of the vehicle. 40k is a lot for a Ford, just like 40k is a lot for a Pontiac (G8 GXP).

This looks to be an excellent vehicle. Top end model won't be a hot seller.

$45,905 looks to be the very top for the car. Again, a lot of money for a car. My guess is most SHO buyers will want less options and stay around base SHO prices (which is still a lot for a Ford).

I think you mean it's comparable to an Audi A6 / BMW 5-series / Benz E-Class size. The A8 and 7-Series are BIG cars, likely larger than the new Taurus.

On pricing, they're in two different worlds though.

Looks huge...not my cup of tea, but worlds better looking than the previous few Taurus' (Tauri?). But $40,000+ puts it in a price range with a lot of good cars, so it better hold it's resale value well, although at a low sales volume it should hold up better than a regular Taurus. And it should be better than an Impala, since it's brand new versus very old. Ford should be embarrassed if it wasn't world's better than the Impala, and it's not like that bar was very high.

Even base at 38k is way too high.

The car is A8/7-series sized. It is no longer a midsize car.

For those complaining about price, you have to remember this............ Ford will not expect much in the way of volume, for this car. I would expect that the expectations for it are well under 10K a year. The volume car is the base Taurus, and its trim levels, which are ALOT less money.

Exclusivity will be part of the appeal of the SHO.

msg, 18/28 is the estimate for the FWD Taurus, not the AWD. There are no official EPA numbers yet.

MKS is about the size on an A8, both are a little bigger than the Taurus, but not by too much. SHO is about half way between a A6 and A8 in size.

I'm on the fence, I'm either getting an '04-'07 CTS-V or the SHO. Either would be an awesome replacement for my SS.

only 9 payments left... only 9 payments left..... the lease is almost over!

Sorry I get excited, I'm ready to upgrade.
