Any news on a future Chevy coupe (not the Camaro)?

Just wondering if there was any more new news on a larger coupe coming from Chevy. I know there isn't too much money floating around for new vehicles but I know this idea was discussed before. My grandma needs a new car soon enough and only wants a 2 door Chevy.

Larger? Tell her to get a Camaro, it's almost 2 tons itself!

I don't understand why old people like such large vehicles. Wouldn't it be easier to manuever/park a small car?

Maybe there's a 3 ton Nova in the works.

If not Camaro, there has to be an 07 Monte Carlo sitting on a lot somewhere.

A larger coupe would go to Buick or Pontiac, not Chevrolet.

The only large coupe on the radar for possible US sales is the former GTO (shown in concept form as the Holden Coupe 60 concept last year) whose only chance for life as the planned next Holden Monaro is selling a few dozen thousand in the US. A minute amount to us, but enough to more than pay development costs in Oz.

Problem?

The US dollar.

The Zeta based VE is cheaper to make than the Omega based VZ, but it will be tough to sell the coupe at the same price as the '05 GTO. Using the Commodore and G8 sedan as well as the Ute and G8 ST as a yardstick for pricing differences, best guess is that the G8 coupe would cost well in the upper $30Ks to $40K range.

Decision centers around the question of market for a 4 passenger Grand Touring (say $40K) coupe linking the modest (say $30K) 4 passenger Camaro SS and luxurious (say $60K) 4 passenger CTSv coupe.

The Camaro is a big car. It is the same size as the new larger Malibu. Have her get the Camaro, she will be the coolest old lady ever

And the styling (especially the interior) will take her back to the cars of her youth

Do you consider the new Malibu to be physically big? The Camaro is pretty much bigger, and the new Malibu is a relatively large car.

Indeed. So if you're waiting on Chevy to build an even larger coupe than 190" long and 75 inches wide, you'll be waiting a long time.

Not at all. Malibu is a mid sized car, and actually offers a lot of interior space for a car of its size. I do not think the new Malibu is small either, but exactly what the last gen wasnt, a true mid size car.
The Camaro is a true mid sized coupe, just as it used to be.
If Camaro was as big or bigger then the Impala coughChallengercough, then that would be a LARGE coupe.
I think that the Camaro nailed a perfect size for your modern 2+2 coupes.
