Thanks for your helpful, as always, input.

I haven't seen any "brand new" 2002's around here, and I've been doing some looking. The '94 will probably need to be replaced in the Spring and I'll be in the market for a nice low-mileage example. Preferably from a reputable dealer or private party, but I won't go on E-bay. I wouldn't buy 37 cent stamps on E-bay let alone a $25,000 car.....

I'd imagine there are only a few left... plus, I'm thinking a few overly greedy dealers tried to charge a hefty premium for "the last of the Camaros and Firebirds", and shot themselves in the foot, and are now stuck with new cars that are 2 years old and depreciated well past their own cost.

I know when I bought my 2002 MC SS a year and a half ago, I had my dealer try to find me a 6-speed WS6. There were like 6 in a 100 mile radius. None of those dealerships with a 6-speed WS6 would do a dealer trade.

I imagine that after the media has bombarded this car as dead for the last two years combined with absolutely not a hint advertising from GM most of the buying public doesn’t know that this car is even still around. Doesn’t surprise me that a few hundred F-bodies are still sitting around on lots.

Wish I could go buy a new one right now. But yeah it would suck to buy a new $30,000 that would loose a 1/3 of its value as soon as you left the lot. I wonder how much the dealers would be willing to drop the price on these cars? IT would be nice to get a decently optioned Z28 for around $20,000. I'm dreaming though.

The last time I checked my local Chevy dealer in Fort Worth had nothing buy V6 cars left. One they had marked up to like $25,000, because of some Torque Thrust Twos and it was fully loaded. I'm not surprised that one never sold with loaded Z28s only a few thousand more. Oh well I'm rambling.

We don't do the mark-up (over MSRP) thing here at my dealership, seems stupid to make a person pay over sticker just because you can. There is a few out there, but try to be more specific on colors, etc. I need/want more info before I dive in. Thanks.

Why don't you buy an '04 Cobra? It'll be the same price as an SS. All the bugs are worked out now. More power. More potential. Modern technology. You win in every way.

To answer in order.
1. It's a Ford. Better than an import, but no GM.
2. Sticker for a '04 Cobra versus a discounted '02 SS or WS6?
3. Don't we hope!
4. Yeah, yeah. (Cough cough) needs a blower (Cough cough)
5. This isn't true. You can get the same power gains from the LS engines
6. Modern DOHC equals expensive to fix with little overall gain (in the majority of cases). DOHC doesn't equal faster or more reliable over OHV. Example: 3800 or any small block chevy.

Uhh, because I don't want one. Couldn't afford one if I did want one.

Darth--good point about dealer/seller markups. I am actually considering a 35th Anniversary SS because it's something different, but I've seen people in my area wanting $40,000 for theirs...and they have been driven a few thousand miles!

Ryan: What color is the SS? Can you get me a phone #?
I've bought two used Camaros and have had great luck--make sure its not modified, at all; has very low mileage; has a clean Carfax; and is checked out by a mechanic. You'll need to be patient to find the right car, but it works. I got a 1994 Z in 2000 with 8900 miles--fanatic had owned it and never driven it in rain; and got my current 98 SS in 2001 with 4700 miles on it, owned by another fanatic. Both have been great cars and have had no problems--you'll save lots of money.

If you've got $30K plus TTL, then you can get a Cobra.

4.6 DOHCs don't need a blower, friend. The Mach1 runs 13.2 @ 106 STOCK all day. That's nose to nose with a Z28.

Same power gains as a blown 4.6?
How about 660RWHP 605RWT 10.72@133 with KB blower and bolt-ons. On 93 pump gas.

As far all this brand loyalty crap. I can't help anyone out there, but I can suggest a good psychiatrist.

Quick question for you. Why the hell are you on this board if you want to bash on GM product? Why not go to the Mustang board and hype it up a bit. Maybe they'll appreciate it. We don't. In regards to 660RWHP etc, have you seen any dyno runs for modded N/A LS series V8's? If you want to play fair, go play on the internet and find some forced air LS motors. I know you'll find the 4.6 to be pretty lame afterwards.

Some of you seriously need senses of humor.

Anyway, just buy used, if you're smart you can get a great used car.

There was a post a few weeks ago on LS1.com about a guy with a C/E that was running 9.80s. Even had a video clip. Real sweet!!

All stock lower end, different heads and cam, turbocharged running only 10 lbs of boost, Turbo 400 tranny, 10 bolt rear end.

Preferences: NBM, SOM, Silver, Black, Red. Ebony interior is a MUST have. 6 speed, with Hurst. I would prefer one without TCS.

I have thought about an 04, But they don't have SB anymore. I don't really like any of the other color's.

For Camaro SS's with no T/C, out of luck. If you want a Z28 like that, there is a couple that work. There shows one Black WS6 T-top like you want with a Hurst and no T/C. Let me know if this works.
