As a resident of the the Mahoning Valley, where Lordstown Assembly is located, I am delighted to hear that.

I'm gonna have to go with the above two posts. I own a J-body and have hung around J-body fans and fansites the past 3-5 years (along with f-body lovers too ) and there is no mention of the Cavalier coupe going away ANYWHERE besides that article.

And now with GM really pushing the J-bods onto the aftermarket scene to compete with the imports (which probably wont happen until the major redesign since the current J's have such a bad rep with import owners, believe me i hear it all the time ) I would highly doubt the Cavalier coupe, the strongest seller among J-bodys and especially the J-body enthusiast community, will be going away.

RP, your above statement is the exact reason why I work for a GM dealer, am finishing my MBA in a year, and even handed my resume to Jack Smith at a speech he gave at UMass Amherst (his and my alma mater ) 2 months ago....I WANT IN!!! I will not give up on my road to GM...the jobs just seem like too much fun for me

I wish I had the ability to be somewhere within GM where decisions like these were made...mark my words though...GM will NOT kill the coupe. Look at the sole fact that for '03, Pontiac killed the Sunfire sedan, not the coupe! J bods sell VERY well as coupes...I pray GM is smart enough to see this. Not everyone wants a hatchback or a 4 door! I have MAD customers who want their GP coupes, or their cheap Grand Am SE coupes...kill the small, sporty J bod coupes too, and you've alienated the market. People like coupes...not in the droves they used to, but they still do. Neon coupes were just plain ugly compared to their counterparts...there's no comparison.

Well Motor Trend has been wrong before, last year at this time they were reporting that the Holden CommadoreSS was coming here as a ImpalaSS. But someone at GM was actually considering it then it was later given a red light. So what has happened is that their inside source at GM is not always right, or maybe they are picking up the information before the final desision has been made.
