Purchase Allison's what? Allison's company? His old mansion?



Sorry, but it is a pet peeve of mine. The name of the company is Allison Transmission. There is no s or apostrophe-s at the end...

People do it all the time, including people who work at the company.

It's like how a lot of people in Detroit calls Ford "Fords", e.g. "I work down at Fords".

My grammatical pet peeve is the overuse of apostrophes in general, most notably on plurals. Many people also use them on possesive pronouns too, which is also wrong, e.g. "GM exceeded its sales targets" does not have an apostrophe in "its".
