Expensive? yes. OVerpriced? I don't know.

I bought MPIO 1GB mp3 player for someone as a gift, and paid $200 CDN for it. iPods were going for $250 CDN at the time (2 GB version), and 1GB were not yet released. The LCD display stopped working, so I had to ship the dam thing out for warranty repair already. That cost me $25 CDN. The thing is also tempermental, where it will only be recognized by a computer if the thing is on when you plug it in. If it's OFF, the PC will not even recognize it.

The manual for MPIO, and their website are terrible sources of information. Everything is written by chinese people with poor english. I don't understand why such simple but very important things are not outsourced to companies that do proofreading.

In any case, I regretted deeply for not purchasing that 2 GB iPod instead, and it was too late to exchange it. Comparing prices for other MP3 players - Creative prices theirs similarly to Apple's, and other small scale players are quite high up there too. At the end - I don't think the iPod is overpriced. I think that in general MP3 players are expensive.
