about that petition........

Maybe I've become cynical and given up, but I don't see this petition making much of a difference... especially on an unknown car... and how much flak the current GTO seems to be getting, I won't be totally shocked if they decide not to use the name Camaro (which may, or maynot be a bad thing, depending on what the car actually turns out as)

I honestly think a better tactic would to go ahead and get a competitors car, take a pic of you getting the keys at the dealership, and send it over to GM, with a statement saying, "I have found my Camaro replacement. Thanks, GM for making me look elsewhere!"

yea, i'm not sure it will make much difference either
they know how we feel already (as stated by red) so i think it's all a moo () point anymore
i think we just need to keep vigil, and just wait...

Re: about that petition........

THANK YOU. I didn't want to have to say it alone but I find it utterly pointless.

If it makes the signers feel better about the situation great, but thats all one can expect.

Especially since is says something along the lines of "being created for the people who work for GM who visit this board"... WTF? If they visit this board they are clearly already in touch with the "C" issue!

Surely after ten years of petitions, emails, letters, and all sorts of public out cry this is going to blow GMs mind and put a fire in them to do right by us...

GM will probably give us what we want, I think we can count on them. I don't want a retro Camaro, but to kill some time, someone should convert one of those new Mustangs into a retro Camaro. Maybe make a body kit to change a bunch of stuff to make it look like a Camaro.

Just get the numbers going, and if this spreads it will be mentioned. VW brought R32 to the States precisely because of a petition like that. Various magazine editors lurk here, they can mention it in their mags if this gets bigger.

Bottom line: you only lose when you don't try.

Thats true. But it just seems like after ten years whatever is going to happen is going to and has indeed began happening. I could be wrong.

Re: about that petition........

Hey guys as MuckZ stated anything can and will help....and though I got this idea late at night I know it has been done before and there are pages of this stuff on message boards just like this...not new but I think it is needed ammo...

I know as well alot of us the Chevy Coupe is comming WE KNOW THAT, its just the head guy Lutz that I want him to know we want that car to be called Camaro..and not a number, letter, or vegitable......

thats the point of the petition... so that cars like the R32 get here , in out case Camaro comes into production and not somehting that screams Camaro and is called anything but...

I dididnt think about posting to other boards about it, but hmmm maybee a little help with that it could work...

I have given up whole now and again and now its pretty much on the horizon and the beancounters are the big wall we got to go over and we got to drag the name Camaro with us to get a car called Camaro...so anything we can do to let us get heard then I say we need it...so if you can please sign it if you havnt. would make our case stronger for a 2007 Camaro...

and Good PH D

They come here and are in touch with the "C" issue..but I think they need proof to give to said beancounters that dont, and maybee a 15 page booklet printed out from this forum that "lurking Chevy Coupe" guy will present it at a meeting saying this is the petition from just one website to name it Camaro...

Re: about that petition........

Anyone can call it pointless and say it's already taken care of and whatever else, but honestly, what can it hurt? I haven't seen too much of this stuff since the letters that RP asked everyone for, and that's been a while...

Re: about that petition........

With out seeing the Zeta Chevy coupe it is hard to say what it should be named. It's not a matter of if they want to call it Camaro, it's if they should call it Camaro.

The Camaro name alone will out sell a new name, like say "Chevy Carbon" Camaro has huge marketing appeal and the bean counters know this.

'04-'06 GTO should probably been named Pontiac Monaro.

I personally think that anything we can do could help and should be done.so why not have this petition. I mean we have a certain X amount of usual posters here and as stated before, if we could get the lurkers to post here and maybe people from the lounge than that X that is usually seen posted here can go up exponentially and did.

I have to agree, If the Chevy coupe is more Chevelle-like it would be a huge mistake to call it Camaro. If Chevy is going to use the name, the car damn well better deserve it.
