There's just nothing exciting about the Bel Air concept to me... I remember seeing it in person in Cleveland at the Auto Show a few years back, and few people even paid it any attention.

Just so bland (IMO)... all around... I really hope we've moved on to something more exciting!!

Of course he was referring to the other Bel Air concept.

The front and rear are a little boring (and the ride height high), but looking at the side profile which swoops up for the back quarter panels, I think with a more aggressive front and rear it could look quite good...

Quite possibly. The 99 Nomad and Bel Aire do share some cues that would obviously have been put on a Camaro, should it have come out at that time, but design work on the car has never stopped.

No, I liked it a lot but it rode to high. If GM had lowered it like 2 inches and people reacted to it the way they did the Solstice. Our car would have been here sooner because the case for the Bel Aire would have been concrete and a coupe version would have been right behind it.

You will only find the one shown to the public. Apparently it went back to the design studio after its time on the show circuit. Someone mentioned that a picture of it hands in the lobby at a California GM Design studio. One can only guess at what was done to it but we may find out sooner rather than later.

Now for some SWAG's (Scientific Wild *** Guess)
-When you hear Guy and others say that there may be a RWD car that makes it to market quicker than the Camaro...I am gonna assume this is it.
-It is most likely a RWD sedan or Quad Coupe because before there can be a Camaro, there has to be a volume sedan. (been stated many times). Also, if Chevy has a more pressing need than a Mustang competitor, it is that they need a competitor for the 300.
-If it's a sedan, Caprice or Bel Air would seem to be the front runners unless they give it a new name. Caprice is nice, but does not have the heritage pop Bel Air does. I am also gonna go out on a limb and say that styling will likely dictate the name. If it wear Chevy's new styling language, then it may very well have a new name. However, if it is retro, Bel Air make sense.

I do not see Impala going RWD anytime soon the way it sells.
Few items to throw out.

1. Don't expect Impala to go RWD. This comes from the top: volume cars will continue to be FWD with AWD as an option on some. Besides, Impy just got a new look.

2. When you hear "Belair", don't think of the 2 door turbo 5 concept from years ago. There is a story behind that car, but it has very little in common with a future sedan.... save maybe a name.

3. If it were up to Chevrolet, they would have a Camaro out there.....NOW. I don't think Chevy is very worried about the 300 (Impala is likely to sell over 250,000 this year), but Chevy does want to get into the real Police market again. I don't think it outweighs their desire to compete with Mustang, though.

4. Don't expect 2 RWD concept cars to be shown at the same GM division. There is a RWD sedan I'm told, and I wasn't told who'd have it, but I don't expect it to be Chevy.

Hmm... who would have budgeted for a RWD sedan concept if the whole Zeta cancellation fiasco hadn't occurred? Could it be Buick? They did have a RWD 4 seat convertible last year, maybe Vetlite sedan?

Or could we see a GTO like sedan?

Maybe we'll see a RWD Grand Prix replacement?

That would be nice.

When I think of a legitimate 300C competitior from a GM brand not named Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac come to mind.

Re: About this other car at NAIAS...

Here is a Bel Air photoshop I did not to long after the concept debut. Its lowered with larger wheels and I did some things to the grill, windshield and made it look like it has some purple pearl paint, reason I figured I'd show these is since a few folks said something about it being to high, though some will probably think this ones to low. Anyway, the first picture is the front view and the second picture the back view. I hope I did these links right.

I would think the actual skin of a car would be the easiest to change? (for those worried that Chevy would put a Camaro badge on those panels)

Re: About this other car at NAIAS...

Just so everyone knows....any talk of Bel Air has absolutely nothing to do with the Bel Air concept from a couple of years ago.

The only thing it would have in common is the name.
