That day is approaching faster than you think. I don't expect my grandkids to be driving gasoline powered vehicles when they start to drive.

You're most probably right.

Until then, I hope we get afew more cool IC cars. And maybe one more gen of Camaro, beyond the 5th gen, with an available V8.

Things will radically change over the next decade or two - but who knows what the ultimate outcomes might be. I'm old enough to remember V8's dead by 1980. Then dead by 1985. Then dead by 1990. I also remember the "global cooling" scare. Speaking of which - anyone catch that study on the news which indicates that last year alone, cancelled out any global temp increases from the past couple of decades, that Antarctic ice thickened, and if anything, we're about to enter a phase of global cooling rather than warming.

I agree whole heartedly, which is why I thought the idea of a turbo diesel V8 was brilliant.

Yeah, I wonder what everyone is going to say in ten years, when old hybrid batteries are filling landfills? Hmmm, which BTW, might be emptying if we start making fuel out of garbage for IC cars.

Those materials are quite valuable. An infrastructure will be created to recycle them, much like current lead-acid batteries.

Is it just me or does that have a slight "mustang" vibe to it?

No - not to me. More Audi A-sreies than Mustang IMO.
Front - a little in profile, but from the B-pillar back it's way different than Muskrat.

Now that you mention it... it does look like the bastard offspring of a Mustang, Audi and GTO.

It's fun to talk about different engine configurations, but honestly, I don't think we'll ever see a diesel in a Camaro - nor do I think GM will embrace diesels in meaningful numbers for cars in NA.

Tougher and tougher emissions are quickly eroding diesel's fuel economy advantages over gas engines, and gas engines will soon be closing the fuel economy gap with diesels.

If there is a 6th gen - and it's based on Alpha, bet on an Ecotec or turbo Ecotec as the fuel sipping engine choice.

BTW, not only has GM considered a turbo 4 banger as an econo-leader for Zeta sedans, but so is Chrysler for some of it's upcoming LX cars.

If Chrysler would offer such a package on, oh say, a future 300, figure it would cost about a G-note over the V6.
