Welp, I was wrong in my evaluation on the previous thread. Yep, dead wrong, and for that I apologize.

Let it die.

Move along here.

Peace... be still.

I think Ford should make a special edition Mustang with a GM drivetrain and T-Tops, and call it a Camero...this way everyones happy.

Get real.
1. You can't buy any more than 12,000 GTOs. And whether you buy one or not, they will sell them all. Which will be sold at around 32K.

2. Didn't you read Guion's post? GM knows it has to compete with the Mustang. 40K is no competition to 25K.

I'm not going to make this long (someone else will probally post a thread here on this very soon), but some of the things going on here are driving some people away or making them post less.
This reminds me a little of disgruntled people who wander around at work, murmuring, "I'm going to quit! You'll see." Bosses typically say "Fine. Bu-bye!"

Jeez, some folks need shoulder-chip-removal surgery...

GTO is simply too expensive for me
Better get with current reality. The deals right now on 04 GTO's are utterly NUTS. I was talking with two separate dealers in northern Ohio recently since I considered getting one - there's a $5k rebate for starters, another $1000-$1500 in dealer certs, the GM card round-up program boosting rebates to $2000 for some cardholders, and many people are getting them for about the same amount (if not less) as a new Mustang GT.

In contrast --- the new Mustang GT is in VERY high demand and deals are very stiff.

guionM

For President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I for one am beginning to wonder... how many threads is guionM going to start about his... 5gen 'feelings'?

You can get a new or practically new 04 for mid 20s if u know where to look and can get current deals on it. and everyone who has them loves them. IM going for a used 04 in about a year from now I cant wait. Then probably get a 5th gen in its second year of production

someone at LS1GTO.com got one for: (And i quote his posts)
OK, I bought tonite! Barbados stick. What a fine, fine car.

Did a 23 months Smart Buy. Are you ready? INCLUDING TTL (that's right, NO money out of my pocket whatsoever) - drum roll - $106.77 per month.

I must be dreaming, but I hope I don't wake up!!!

$20,909 [at the end] - but by then I'll be picking up a leftover 06, or waiting for the 07. (altogether 23,364.71)

how he got it:

MSRP = 33190
After Dealer Discount = 30177.64
Rebate = 5500
3 Certificates = 1500
GM Card Redemption = 3896.64 (love that "old" GM gold card)
Tax = 2489.66 (NY State)
Tire Disposal Fee = 22.50 (NY State)
Document Fee = 45.00 (NY State)
Payment = 106.77 per months for 23 months

How many times are we going to hear the same sob story? So we can't voice an opinion that GM's management still couldn't get a new vehicle out the door in less time if their life depended on it.

So it was a priority of GM's management to destroy the corvette and make it it appeal to the overseas folks.

WHAT?!?

Destroy the Corvette?!?

The C6 base model eats the C5 base model for lunch, the C6 Z51 is within a hair of beating a C5 Z06 on a road course, the base car went DOWN in price and you're whining???

The issues around Corvette now are continuous improvement issues and systemic issues with how and why GM continues to make the same mistakes over and over in interior quality. The basic structure of the machine may be the best in the industry.

The whole reason I will not buy a mustang, a sports car belongs on the floor. I drove my friend's 04 GT a couple weeks ago and couldn't stand the driver position of that thing. I know I'm not alone on this.

Werd.....

I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder....but I'd say the C6 was a homerun. I think it's damned near perfect.

you may not be alone,but your numbers won't sell enough cars to be profitable for an inexpensive sporty car.

Wow.

In addition to PX's comments, have you ever seen a C5 parked next to a C6?

One looks alittle bloated and old. One looks sinewy and fresh.

Sure it would be, was for years and could be again. The seating could be a little more upright, but not much, maybe more 3rd Gen-like or a tiny bit more upright still for the complainers. The 05 has a sportier setup than the previous car which was ridiculously upright. A sedan feeling muscle/sports coupe, yeah that's cool.

I don't think the C5 looks outdated. The C5 is not as angular and as sharp but still nice. If anything the C6 could use a little dimension increase, but not much. The C6 is cool looking though. If you could combine both I think it'd be a better looking car.
