5th Gen Facts, What do we know?
I just thought we could start a thread to post solid facts we have figured out about the development of the next Camaro and group them together. What might already be close to be getting locked in? Maybe we could make this into a sticky if the content is good and creditable enough.
This is what I have picked up over the past few days:
* The 5th gen should debut for either the 2006 or 2007 model year. I'm guessing 2007?
* It will share platform with other GM cars that is designed by Holden but built stateside. Platform called VE? What plants are possible?
* It will included IRS for sure. Live axle is dead.
* And we can pretty much assume RWD and a V8 of course.
GuionM, PacerX, anyone else, maybe even Red Planet,
what else can you add to this list?

I dunno if you can exclude a solid axle yet. The next gen mustang is still coming with solid axles and it probably keeps the cost down considerably. IRS woudl be perfered though and I highly doubt we'll get both. I'm leaning towards IRS but can we be certain?"

It convinced me. This guy has a lot of inside knowledge.
If done like the C5 IRS I’m all for it performance wise. Also if this platform is spread around a few different models in the GM lineup then I don’t see that cost would be such a problem.

Who ever plans to meet up down there off of this board needs to bring a Laptop and keep the not so lucky guys posted on what’s going on.
As much as I’d like to help Red stop smoking, I'll be stuck at school in Lubbock.
I like this bit of information the best.

As you can see by this thread, there are NO easy answers. Regardless of what a poll may say on this site, it is likely that the results on other sites may differ. No question about it, the next Camaro HAS to be V8, HAS to be faster and more powerful than the '02 (and lead the class in overall performance) HAS to be recognizable as a Camaro.....and HAS to do it at a Chevrolet price.

I'm going hopefully, but I doubt I'll take a laptop. Probably just be a one day affair for me. I do plan on taking my camera. I bought a big compact flash card before I went to the beach. I think I can take about 600 pics with it! I'd love to be able to take a pic of a concept 5th gen they unveil up there, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.
As far as what we know for sure about the 5th gen, I don't think we know anything for sure. We all speculate about stuff and some have more inside connections than others so they may speculate more accurately, but for sure, we know nothing. Except Red Planet that is!
