My 5th Gen Concepts

My senior project in Industrial design is creating a 5th gen Camaro. Here are some pics of some early/quick concepts. Let me know what you think and please give me feedback (good or bad) so I can better refine my concepts. Thank you very much.

I have a couple hundred sketches so I just picked a few.

Please excuse the crudeness of the website.

Re: 5th Gen Concepts

If anyone has the time, could you tell me specifically what you like or don't like or maybe a certain direction you would like to see. The end result of this project will be a 1/5th scale model fully painted so I would like to have as much input from people who know a lot about the car so the final solution is successful. Thanks.

Re: 5th Gen Concepts

Two horizantal rows of lights, LEDs like on the G35 but in a first gen type of taillamp sort of way.

Also it seems to much like a freshened fourth gen. Try adding the "swoop" things that everybody else has put on theirs, that go from the top of the wheel wells.

I also think you should make the curve of the front bumper more tiered, and then have the two headlamps tiered as well, ala third and fourth gen.

Also try some different hoods. A cowl, Ram Air, and nostrils.. I like nostrils.

Re: 5th Gen Concepts

Personally I"m not a fan of the flat streamlined look cadilliac tyoe if style... and the line that goes through the middle of the rear doesn't brake the car up well... the frontof the car just doesn't look sinister enough for me atleast.

I think a nice Wide, rounded off rear that shows the hips of the Camaro would be nice... Camaro's always had bold hip lines... but they semed to have lost them in the 80's. The front could use a tone down on the stream lining. The hood is alright... but the bigblock hood is kinda old now. IT's not a bad car if you called it something else... it be a winner... but as a camaro... It needs to look a bit more like one.

man, this front is BADASS. a smidge to 4th gen for my liking, but by far the best of them. maybe keep the headlights a quadrilateral design, but make them more swept in towards the middle. a different lower grille shape would help too.

Some of the side views look a lot like the MK3 supras (86-92) but I really do like the sketches.

Re: 5th Gen Concepts

I see 4th in the nose, and third gen in the rear, and first gen in the middle. Put some circle tails on it to pay homage to the 2nd gens, and bingo.

Re: 5th Gen Concepts

Thanks guys. What I am shooting for is a 5th gen Z28 that is similar to the relationship of the Corvette and ZO6 but not quite the gap that current C6 will have. So it will have unique appearence, high emphasis on handling (brake cooling ducts, lightweight, proper wheels and tires, ect.), and of course performance.

The car of course will not be retro but still have design cues from the past and I think it should break new ground as well. I would like to use some contemporary design cues so that means that the car won't be as rounded as the 4th gen and will have more creases. The overhangs will be reduced from the 4th gen as well. Another issue I am dealing with is that I have not fully decided on weather I want to do a hatckback or trunk. Anyway, thank you for the feedback and the quick marker renderings are not of a choosen concept, just a study on a random concept. Thanks.
