Will someone please agree with me when I say that the styling of the stock 4th gen was pretty bland? I have heard dozens of people mention how normal people can dinstinguish any Camaro coming down the road except for the 4th gen. I would love any Camaro as long as its poweful and is noticeable coming down the road. I want someone to say "damn thats a fine car" when the 5th gen comes down the road. If you go retro, a design like Hortons its going to get attention but thats going to cost you respect from car guys because your immitating Ford once again. If Ford hasnt come out with the retro Mustang I would have loved the idea of going retro. I think we should make a car thats the basic shape of a 4th gen but wider wheel areas especially in the rear like the 1st gens had. Then the hood/glass lines should mimic the third gen, maybe a rear spoiler lip like the 2nd gens, mix of old and new I say.

Agreed. What's even funnier is when people see a 4th Gen and say they had no clue it was a Camaro or say something like they didn't know there were Camaro's after IROC-Z's. It has to be something that stands out and looks like nothing else. Especially Chryslers.

Haha thanks, now how many of you would like the Camaro if it came out to be like the GTO. Ya know, it may be fast but what if it has bland styling that you cant distinguish from any other sedan. This is very unlikely but is till should be thought about. I think the its possible because GM is like that, I got into an argument with a guy whether a car that drove by was a g6 or not and the same argument about whether a car was a GTO. What should the 5th gens have for hood options?

I would really like to see some kind of cowl-like hood, but something more like the SS hoods will probably be seen again.

Are you sure about that?

Think about Mustang styling.........it's been pretty much consistent thru-out it's life.......rectangular grille insert with pony.....side scallops.....wheel-wells very rounded....tri-taillamp bezels.....not every year....but most......

Camaro on the other hand, has not. Yes, we can all spot Camaros from a mile away.......BUT.........there are not a lot of styling cues from all four generations. (For those of you who have been around long enough, let me assure you that when the 70 1/2 Camaro hit the streets......there were a lot of people going "WTF????")

(Come to think of it, I was driving an early 3rd Gen about 60 days before announcement.......no nameplates anywhere on the car......on the Atlantic City Expressway of all places......and NO ONE could figure out what it was at the service plaza......)

So......let's make sure that everyone is on the same page when we as a group say "Retro"

(let the slaughter begin!!!!!!!)

(Putting on flame suit.......)
My definition of RETRO would be an old car with new technology under the skin. I define it more narrowly I suppose. I would not call the current Mustang retro, for the reasons RP says above. It a modern, edgy, slab-sided 3-box coupe, with obvious heritage cues. There are only so many ways you can design a 3 box coupe. The same 05 Mustang with some slightly different front and rear clips could pass for a number of makes of muscle or pony cars.

On a side note, the current Aston Martin coupes are RETRO I suppose to some folks since it has cues from the 70's coupe (which I think looks like a early Camaro anyway), but I think those would be a great design basis for a Chevy Coupe. Note the short decklid that would combine some of the design features of a hatchback and trunk. The SS concept seemed to capture this pretty well, in sedan form of course.

Would tend to go with the lightest weight option but this is very style oriented and you couldnt really pick unless you saw it. The function of the hatch is much better IMHO.
