500 HP is for Sissies

DECATUR, Ind. — Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, known for its fire-breathing modifications to Corvettes and other cars, is offering a new Gen-2 Twin Turbo package for the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that bumps up the 427-cubic-inch V8 from the standard 505 hp to 800 hp.

The $45,995 package takes six to eight weeks to set up on the 2006 Corvette Z06 and includes professional assembly and engine blueprinting, twin Garrett turbochargers, custom stainless-steel exhaust manifolds and turbo outlets, forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods and a high-capacity fuel system.

Lingenfelter quotes an eight-to-12-week lead time to carry out the modification.

What this means to you: Money equals power. Horsepower.

Unless you are a serious drag racer, 800 horses is way too much.

You don't have to be a serious drag racer. Most of those guys who will actually buy that package have probably never even seen a 1/4 mile track.

For any car enthuanist there's no such thing as too much hp, and I would take that 800hp no problem.

I wonder if the rear end can handle that much power. How much traction could you expect from 800 HP?

That price seems high but in reality they can ask it because after it's all said and done, you have a car that has cost you 125 grand and puts out 800hp.

That still bests any exotic performance car on the market dollar for dollar by a wide margin.

I'm not feeling the appearance package in that pic. Plus that picture is ridiculously too large.

That is not the car in question

800 hp with a 2/24,000 mile warranty that with Turbo's I bet is as docile as a stock Z06 .
