5 or 6 speed auto coming?

the difference in price for a 5 or 6 speed tranny probably will offset the improved gas mileage for about 150K miles. May not be worth it for most small cars.

From what I've seen, it'll be a while before the 6-speed boxes get used in a mainstream 4cyl application. There are a large number of V6 applications that need to get this gearbox first.

I recall Dodge using similar logic as to why the Neon held on the 3 speed automatic for so long. Didn't wash then--as they said it would be a few hundred extra--I can't see that bothering most people.

After all--most cars are sold are automatics---so they will pay.

Unless they have changed the way they do their autos, Honda's autos are far different from anyone elses. They are closer to a manual then any auto out there.
