I just stated something that is pretty obvious to me. If this thread goes downhill, this is probably going to be the reason.

Blame Billy Boy and his baby NAFTA...
Get over it and move on, also long as there is NAFTA, there will be parts made in mexico and canada. At least its not taiwan.
That's 450,000 total, not 450,000 a year right?

When it comes down to all parts in a car, and I mean right down to bolts and interior panel clips etc etc - its very possible if not definite that not everything is assembled in the homeland of the car's origin.
Maybe even beloved imports!
All this buzz is getting me excited, I think GM might be on the fast track here.

Cheaper blocks from Mexico mean more money for US engineers and more money for new features and cheaper cars for Americas. If I pay less for a car, that gives me more money to spend on other things like education, my house or going out to dinner which help local bussinesses. (or even a better faster car
)To bad Mexico is lossing to China. The Mexican Gov't sucks at running things. Just imagine if mexicans actually liked Mexico and stayed instead of sneaking into the USA. Heck, the money we would save on boarder enforcement alone would be huge!

Saturn Aura will have the 3.6L as an option. The Lambda crossovers will be sporting the 3.6L. That will be some serious volume right there, since Buick, Saturn, and GMC will all have a Lambda.

Thats a lot of blocks. I assume that these are HF's and not HV. If so, good move on GM's part to bring the OHC V6's to market in such mass. I have much hope for these engines. I dont see the need for the 3.5 or 3.9. Good engines, but you cant get out of it what they want.
This is 450k ontop of what GM already makes, and they also sell the engine across the world. Aussie's are making them, and Europe has them. Saab will get them as well, in both the 9-3 and 9-5.
450k is a big number. I figured all together its gotta be close to 600k HFV6's a year made in US alone.

Re: 450,000 Aluminum V6 Blocks for GM
There was a company here in Melbourne that won a contract to manufacture alloy V6 blocks for the then forthcoming HFV6... ION went under and forced Holden to look elsewhere for a supplier. Could the supplier be the Mexican based manufactuer?
