40,000 Camaros this year....
Is what Mark LaNeve expects first year Camaro production to be.

I wonder if an internal number exists at GM where the 5th gen would be considered a success or failure?

Certainly, 100K + units per year is now a pipedream.
Other than the Malibu, 100K+ for any GM car is a pipedream. At least in terms of retail sales.

I just hope whichever incompetent government bureaucrat who ends up calling the shots for GM in the near future, realizes that.

According to an Oshawa insider on another Camaro (camaro5.com) site the plant is currently running over 200 cars per day with 400+ a shift being the goal.

From what I've heard, the factory can produce three times that (500-600/day) without even affecting Impala production at all.

Production should be in line with demand. In an American economy that only supports selling 10 million units it would be hard to believe if a Camaro was at or over 1 percent of total vehicle sales.

I really don't find that so hard to believe. Optimistic, yes, but far from implausible. I think 0.5% to .75% is perfectly reasonable.
